Nice course, great staff.
This is a nice course and can be enjoyed by any level of golfer. Play the gold tees if you want to use every club in your bag. The card says 7010 yards and it has to be close. The fairway bunkers are in play on most holes unless you play from the white tees and then you can fly them. Course was in good shape for March but will be better when everything starts growing! It took 5 hours to play which is WAY too long but that is how it is at BC. I think they need to spread the tee times out some and stop overbooking.
Great layout
Although the course was dormant , the design was excellent and provided challenges and rewards.
Great Course & Great Scenery
Great golf course. Challenging course but a very scenic environment with wildlife around the course which is a nice change. Staff was very friendly and the club house is very nice and relaxing after the round. I would recommend the Bear Creek Golf Course to anyone.
Quality course
One of my favorites in the St. Louis area. Only gripe I have is that there's a ton of houses that can potentially be struck.
Nice course...AWFUL Management
Booked golfnow on a rare 60 degree day in DECEMBER! Had a 1:30pm tee time at Bear Creek, so showed up at 12:50pm (there was about 8 cars in the entire lot so course was pretty much to ourselve) and I was ready for some golf.
We tell the guy behind the counter our tee time and that it is through golfnow and he chuckles and tells us that we need to wait for the other 2 people in our 4some and that we can tee off at 1:30pm when they arrive. So, we asked since there was no one on the course if we could just go ahead and play by ourselves (which any other course is fine with because there are no other tee times scheduled) however, he says no. Now on a normal day with tee times it could make sense bc we might cause issues if they are booked up but that was far from the case. So we asked really? This guy then proceeds to tell us that he can't allow that because they have to make it "inconvenient for us since they don't make any money on our golfnow.com tee time, that way maybe next time to avoid this inconvenience we will book through them." WOW, he seriously told us that!!
Well obviously golfnow.com brings you business or else you wouldn't use them, so if it is such a big deal that they have a few times per week that they keep the money on then quit using them!!! O yea that's right they bring you a ton of business! So it was quite hilarious and I will not be going back to bear creek anytime soon even though I do like the course, the guy was that ridiculous when the course was EMPTY!! I will continue to use golfnow.com as it is a GREAT site and way to get cheap tee times just not at Bear Creek!
Nice lay out.....greens were in great shape for late season.
Enjoyed playing this course as every hole was different bringing various elements of your game into play.
Good course overall.
Course in good shape for November. Tee boxes were up on many holes to preserve the grass. Bunkers could use to be updated with fresh sand as many were hard making it difficult to hit out of.
Very nice course
Played end of October and the course was still in great shape. Green conditions were still well maintained. The course posts a lot of discounts on Golf Now. Com
Late in the season
Course was in typical shape for this time of year. The greens were aerated in the last week but most of the sand backfill was gone. The fairways were in great shape.
Good value
Overall course in good shape. Tee boxes needed to be mowed.
Pace of play at 4hours & 10 minutes was good. Had our group played better we would have finished in less than 4 hours.
The course was in very good shape
Bunkers need a lot of work. Fairways were in excellent condition. Greens were average.
Nice course but slow play
I was impressed with the course layout and conditions, but the pace of play was extremely slow. Teed off at 7:20 hoping to have a relatively quick round and finished around noon. It was the longest round I have played this year (out of 50+).
challangin course. good greens and fairways
The greens and fairways were in great shape but the t-boxes need some attention. fast play and challanging
Way overbooked
I played this course one other time this year on a Monday afternoon and it was pretty empty. This time the course was way overbooked. They had booked a tournament on a Saturday of all days. They had four groups a piece lined up to tee off of hole 1 and hole 10. They can use all the excuses in the world that they tourney ran long, etc etc etc. The fact is they know how long tourneys run and they decided to overbook because they are greedy. It's called respect and their disrespect not just for me but for all the golfers that had to wait to tee off still bothers me. It's bad business.
Course was overbooked and pace of play was slower than I have ever played.
Course was in good shape and it should have played at a resonable rate of time. The course was overbooked and I quit after playing 15 holes in 5.5 hours.
Golf courses really don't like Golf Now.
I was more than disappointed when the course would not accept a rain check from a previous Golfnow reservation as payment for the most recent visit. It's not a coupon, it's a voucher for service that has already been paid for. Makes no sense to me that they should care how the reservation was made when using a rain check.
Nice value
Course was in good shape. Disappointing that we teed off 20+ minutes late due to overbooking. This caused very slow play.
Very tough course, but also very beautiful.
Course is very tough, but in perfect condition. Love the zoysia fairways and the bent grass greens. Make sure to repair your ball marks on the greens, so they will stay in great shape. Would definately play this again next time in the St. Louis area.
great course and challenging. spread out tee times. tend to wait on every hole.
2 is hard and 17 is a blast and 11 is my favorite w good bomb off tee
Driving Range too close to fairway.
This course winds through a subdivisions with houses on almost every hole. If you are looking for a lot of "nature" this is not the course for you. One hole is too close to the driving range and the fairway is littered with range balls. Moving the driving range or setting up a fence to keep the balls off the fairway would be a great idea. It took 5 plus hours to play... no marshalls were to be found.
WOW: Now that is amazing. But I do understand your frustration. I have also booked many times using GolfNow and have run into the same attitude at Bear Creek. It just seems so counter-productive to aggravate golfers, especially when the course is empty.
They really don't like us GolfNow patrons. I would hope they realize the value of being customer friendly because there are a whole bunch of golf courses we can choose.
Bear Creek thanks you for your review. Discounted Trade Times offered by Golf Now are often 50 to 75% off our prices. These prices are really attractive but they don't come with a lot of flexibility and they do have restrictions that some courses list upon booking. This heavily discount tee time is for a tee time that the course opens up and commits to. It doesn't allow for players to come out at any time of the day, as long as its not busy, and play when they want. This also means that if you have less than a foursome you should plan on playing with and even riding in a cart with other players who book the same time as well. We must stay consistent on these slower days and not allow it to be subjective on the golfers part. We appreciate your feedback and hope to see you back at Bear Creek in the future.
