it should not take 5 and a half hours to play around
11:15 tee time. Got off about 30 minutes late. When we got to the second tee box there was a group on the green, another on the fairway, another on the tee box, and our group. Before we could hit there was another 2 groups waiting behind us. When I looked back at the second hole from the fourth tee box there was still a total of 10 carts on the hole. There had been an event early that morning and instead of leaving a buffer between the tournament and regular play they packed them in on top of each other leading to 5.5 hour rounds for everybodt the rest of the day.
Great course -poor pace of play.
Pace of play was so slow that we could only complete 13 holes in 4.75 hours. Marshals should move slow groups on. Found large rocks under the sand surface on #12.
Poor Course Marshall
Highly frustrating day on the course. We called ahead to make sure it would not be an issue to bring a 4 year old along with us. We were told with our 2:20 tee time that it wouldn't be an issue. When we arrived, there was a line waiting at the first tee box, and we didn't actually get to tee off until well after 3pm. They didn't offer to let anyone begin on the back 9. During our extended wait at each tee box, the Marshall made it a point to stop and tell us that the child couldn't leave the cart. Apparently the pace of play, that ultimately took 7 hours to get through, was not as much of a concern to him as a kid hitting his Fisher Price golf ball in the tee box while we waited. He was very unpleasant, especially since we were waiting 15-20 mins at each tee box.
Bear Creek
Fun course and great value for the money. Play was a little slow on the front 9 as we were behind a Dad and some kids but the ranger moved them along and it got much better on the back 9. I will play here again.
Slow-Slow-Slow
Have played this course a few times and it always seems to be getting more disappointing in terms of pace of play. Why are there no marshals to speed up play? Course conditions were a little wet, cart path only, but marshals could help with pace of play. I like this tract, nice layout, challenging, good greens, but come on hit the ball and move on!!
Pace of play
Everything was fine but the pace of play. Course Marshall?? Left after 13 holes. Group of 4 on 14th green, group of 4 in the fairway, 2-some on the tee waiting and my 2-some arriving. Started round at 2:15 p.m., it was 6:15 p.m. at that point. This slow play and lack of a Marshall to help out needs to be addressed!
Golf Course
Bear Creek is one of the best courses in the St. Charles, Mo area. My 4 some found every bunker on the course. One person in the group had never played this course and was surprised it was a public course and not private with all the bunkers. A must play even if a high handicap.
Fun course to play
This was my 3rd time playing Bear Creek and the course keeps getting better. Greens are in great shape as are the fairways. Staff is friendly - from the mobile refreshment cart person (making sure we had drinks) to the course marshall (letting us know that after a rain storm it was cart path only) to the pro shop person checking us in and providing a weather report. We shall return.
Challenging course
This is a nice course with great view and friendly staff. Having said that this is also a very challenging course.
Slow pace
Greens fast and true (1 or 2 had divot repair issues). This is a must play but the pace was a strain... hard to keep in a rhythm or tempo.
Nice course
Overall in good
Shape fairways still not completely green must be because of cold early spring. Greens are good
Plan for a long day
6:48 Tee Time and round took 5 hours. There were about 5 groups in front of us and 3 of them were fivesomes. Never seen anything like it. Will not play this course again.
Bear Creek
Good value on golf now for 18 with a cart. The staff is not that great though, some are really nice while others should be fired. Be careful when setting a tee time in the prime golf hours. They have a tendency to put to many groups out on the course at once and you cant even finish your match.
Good value for the price
It was a good value play. Rental clubs were not good and made the round a little less enjoyable. I thought overall the experience was fine, nothing special. Some nice scenic holes, lots of homes but not much danger of hitting into them.
Challenging enough and in decent condition. Priced correctly.
If only...
I really do love this course. But it took 2 hrs and 40 minutes to play 9 holes at 2pm on a Friday afternoon because we were stuck behind a foursome with zero etiquette. This has been a problem at Bear Creek in the past. I was hoping it would have improved. People, it's okay to be bad a golf, but it's not okay to be bad and slow. Where are the Marshall's?
Slow play
Front wasn't too bad but at turn we waited 20 min before hitting and each hole after that waited 5 to 10. Poor job by the Marshall
pros and cons
I will start off by saying I do like the course, it's in pretty good shape and challenging (from the back tees) This is definitely a pro and con type of course. The pros: Nice course, you will use all the clubs in your bag if you play the back tees, It was a great value with golf now.
The cons: They kind of cram the tee times together, we had to wait about ten minutes for a golf cart, slow pace of play because of this (this is something I usually dont mind too much except for the pressure from the group behind you who thinks your group is the one being slow) There are houses everywhere and their on course restroom facilities were locked. The marshall did not talk to the slower groups to try to speed them up a bit.
Nice layout
Love the layout of the course, challenging enough course to make you want to come back
Challenging course, fast greens
I like this course a lot. It offers an average golfer a chance for a few pars.
Trouble in Paradise
First off, this is a very good golf course. We just happen to pick the day of a Junior Golf Tournament and a frost delay of 1.5 hours. We paid greens fees at the golf course, not golf now. Kudos for calling us and letting us know we would be 1 hour delayed. However when we saw what was happening which was the junior golfers were very very very slow and backed up, we asked if we could get a rain check. Answer: NO, so they put us off the 10th tee behind a foursome who were behind the juniors. Played hole 10 in 10 minutes, than waited on 11 for 30 minutes. The foursome in front quit, and the 2some playing with us quit. We played hole 11, went to 12 and the juniors were backed up beyond belief. The course marshall saved the day. He gave us a rain check on the spot. The only problem I see is in the clubhouse they could have avoided all the bad feelings with so many golfers and give rain checks. I would have been happy, and leaving with a good feeling that the course really cares about its golfers. There are so many golf courses around that are as fun to play as Bear Creek I would have chosen to ban the course after this incident; however as I stated the Course Marshall saved the day and I will be back. In fact I played their last week and had a great experience, once we played through the sixsome in front of us.
