Fast Greens
Was really impressed with the fairways and green speeds the only room for improvement would be changing tee boxes more often especially the white tee boxes which get the most use.
Surprise Pairing
Love the course and gorgeous day.
Upon arrival, we were notified we would be paired with a unknown twosome. Normally not an issue but one of the players was a septuagenarian with a 50 yard max swing. Nice fellow but the pace of place was maddening.....
Wet
I think they may have overwatered from the morning.? I teed off at 11:44 and almost every fairway was soaked.
Pace of play is terrible.
Pace of play is slow. Golfers behind us pushing to play faster. They 4 behinds us were so impatient they went around us only to realize there were a group of 3 in front of us and a group of 4 in front of the 3. At this point it was beyond frustrating with the rude golfers. We eventually had to skip 2 holes in order to finish within 5 hours.
Pace of Play slow and rude golfers
There was a group of four behind us who where pushing us to play faster. At times they would over shoot the ball which would land at the hole we were playing. We had to wait. This group was impatient and passed around us where they soon realized there was a group of three and group of four in front of us. We were not the reason play was slow. We were now behind them. We skipped two holes in order to finish on time. Very disappointed. You should have to wait your turn and not move in front of another group because you are in a hurry.
Bear Creek
Green were rolling really well. Fairways and tee boxes were wet. Like they ran the sprinkler system too long
Previous reviews were right
Having played here before we knew what to expect. Fun little suburban course, laid out fairly well throughout the subdivision.
Hadn't rained for at least 5 days and yet parts of the course were still sodden with standing water, not sure if it's from over watering and these were collection areas?
The one issue as per previous reviews was the attitude of the starter - not sure what is with this guy when clubhouse staff are so friendly. We were polite and conversational with him yet he always seems to have such an attitude problem. The group playing the 1st hole had already exited the green, the twosome that were meant to be playing in front of us were nowhere to be seen and we simply mentioned we'd be happy to tee off if he wanted us to and keep the pace of play moving. You'd think we'd asked for the world when he snapped back at us telling us he'd let us know when it was time for us to tee off and this is his job not ours. He then starts charging to the putting practice area in an effort to find the twosome with his trusty clipboard gripped firmly in his grasp. He returns a minute later and states "I've move you up to the 3:15 tee time" like dude was doing us a favor.
This course has a good mix of difficulty.
Be sure to put The Bear on your list of regular courses to play.
Pace of play and course shape is awful
Slowest round I have played in quite some time. Overbooked course, no marshalls out there making sure pace is acceptable. Greens just aerated too. Greens were very beat up.
