A little bit of everything
First time on course and most likely not my last. The front nine is easier than the back nine. The back nine brings swamp, trees, and water into play. The greens are tricky and deceiving. The course was well groomed and the greens in very good shape. I played on a day July 22, 17 that rained off and on all day, so hardly any gofers on the course.. I got lucky and caught a 3 hour window with no rain and finished 18 holes just before the skies opened up once again. No other golfers = fast play, That is if you are striking the ball well.
Nice easy pace
There were very few early Monday morning golfers so we never waited on any hole and weren't pushed by anyone behind us. Course conditions were great. Fairways plush. Greens fast and challenging. Overall a great experience. We will be back soon.
Tough Greens
the course is wide open if you are a little off on your tee shot with options to make it home. The greens are like Bricks!!! You need to plan to play a chip a roll because if you try to land a 6 iron on the green, you better kiss is goodbye off the back.
Course was in great condition and well maintiained.
Tee time was 10:04 but got off at 10:24. I really don't like that but I will say the pace of play was perfect even on a sold out day.
Made us a perfect golf get way. Thank you.
Very pleasant staffs, and condition of green.
We all fully satisfied. Liked the course very much.
Tough greens
I enjoy playing this course, except the greens continually bring me to my knees. I'll keep trying. Too bad the course is a little bit of a drive to get too.
Greens?
Despite the fact that I don't recall a single bunker on the course, It is still hard to get up and down and 3 putts are easy to come by. Will I come back? If I want to torture myself around the greens, Yeah. Great staff and beer ,dog and chips for less than $8.00. Can't beat that.
Mulberry Hills
It was cold (47 degrees) and windy on the day we played. Normally I don't play when it's those type of conditions, but the course was very well maintained. The tee boxes were in good shape and the greens rolled true. The fairways were in excellent shape and the yardage markers were adequate. There is a little bit of water to deal with and plenty of trees, some of which hang out over the fairway and make for challenging shots both from the tee box and the fairway, but they are not overwhelming. The greens are mostly crowned, making putting very difficult. So getting there in regulation is very important if you want to get par. Without being prepared for the difficult greens, I struggled with putting all day long. Greens looked easy enough to read, but proved very difficult. Overall the course was pretty challenging, there are a lot of blind shots that you have to make, and you'll use pretty much every club in your bag. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Amenities were adequate. I would definitely go back. The course is peaceful and serene. I need to prove to myself that I can make some of those putts. The greens are the real challenge here. Great course in great shape. Definitely worth playing again.
Good course but very fast greens, too much slope on every green
Course well maintained, great staff, unique club house built out of old barn, however the greens where extremely tough; very very fast and large slopes on most every hole. If you love a chip and putt challenge this is the course for you.
Great local course. A little expensive considering Devil's Ridge is not too far away, but nice course and not too challenging. Staff is friendly and if you can get over some of the greens and hole locations, it's a great time any day of the week.
Greens
Difficult slopes on several greens which made things very interesting.
mulberry
I in joyed the course very much.. I will return.
Good value
I would have added stars to the layout except the greens are terribly unfair for the average as well as those a bit over average in putting. Pin placement on the sides of hills doesn't make the rounds very much fun. That is my only grip about the course itself.
Off course amenities refers to the clubhouse for me. I try to get in and out as quickly as possible. The carpet in the "pro shop" is filthy. The whole place has an overpowering cat urine smell. I mean male cat urine. It stinks! My eyes water. So if you can avoid the clubhouse and check in area you will do yourself a huge favor.
The ladies who run the place are very nice. The exterior grounds of flowers is beautiful. They take extra care when it comes to horticulture.
If only they could clean up the interior by ripping out the carpet and killing the smell, I would go there far more often.
first time
Wife had an appointment so I decided to play 9, Mulberry Hills had the best price so I played there. There is an odor in the clubhouse kinda like cat urine, but I wasn't in there very long. The ladies behind the counter seemed a little abrasive, but overall were friendly and polite. I would ply the course again.
Golf with Mom
My mom was in town from California, and at 84 yrs. young, has found a love for the game. I was hoping to be able to let her ride with me for 9 holes, and get a first hand feel for the game. The owner was willing to let us do that, and we both had a wonderful time. I would like to say thanks very much for this chance to take my mom on the course, she will remember your kindness to us both. The course was in very good shape, despite the very dry weather. I was 2 over for the 9. SMILE...God bless
Crowned greens
The greens are tricky if short or long the vall will rolls off. Most of them are crowned.Excellent course for all type of golfers.
Miniature golf anyone?
Lots of blind shots on the back nine, short holes, fairly fast greens and crowned greens. It was very hard to stop the ball anywhere near the hole. I didn't enjoy the course that much. I did enjoy the fact that we were able to play the round.
