Bring a good putter
Loved the course overall. Greens were very fast and never flat. Pin placements challenging. The fairway is certainly a friend to have!
challenging greens
Course is in great condition. Course management is key. Strategic tee shots are imperative. Lightning fast greens. Extremely slopey. Almost goofy golf greens. Extremely difficult for the average golfer. You better be good with the flat stick or its going to be a day filled with 3 putts. Most likely the toughest greens to putt in Michigan. But still fun. Very good test.
Difficult but well kept
Course is clean and kept up. Definitely a difficult course that lives up to it's name.
Pace of play made the round tedious
There was no ranger on the course to monitor pace of play. The 18 holes took over 5 hours and we waited on every hole. At times there were 3 groups backed up on a hole. This experience really took away from what is a beautiful course.
Forced Carries/Long Iron Tee Shots
Course is in good shape and scenic. Played high school golf here and still do not appreciate marsh land being located in areas that would be considered good tee balls.
Cattails golf course
This course was in good shape and dry. The only time I had a problem was when it rained because the course holds water . I think it could be priced a little better but it was in great condition
Close holes
Tees and greens seem on top of each other. Day i played was very slow. Will not play again.
Less then what I remember from a dozen years ago
I first played Cattails about 12 years ago, it seemed to have a feeling of a semi private club. This time the course felt a little rough around the edges. Cart path were deteriorated. Ball washers were lacking water. Restrooms were not in pristine condition. The course itself is challenging, with roly-poly greens and challenging rough. The staff is extremely friendly and a fairly good selection of craft beers. At $25 this is a great value - but full price would be a little bit pricey.
get ready for a challenge on number 10!!!
Over all this course is challenging and in good condition....the greens made it thru the winter with no damage and made for a pleasant round of putting with some of the greens I have experienced so far this season.....try this course out if you are a golfer looking for a challenge!!!!
Score cards need attention
Since it was my first time at this course, I rely on the picture off the score card to tell me where should i try to aim my golf ball. As result, I've lost quite a few balls because the picture on the score card are showing fairways where, in reality, there is an hazard.
The course is well maintained an fun to play so, I would definitely come back and hopefully loose less balls!
long round
The course itself is nice. It's easier after you've played it a couple of times and know the couple of short cuts that are available. Staff is friendly although on this day I had to hunt down the starter and then saw nobody actually on the course except the drink cart. It was a 5 hour 15 minute round on a Monday afternoon though and that's not unusual at this course. If you book through GolfNow and are paying there, it's cash only.
Is what it is
This a great little track, not long but fair.
Staff is excellent, pace a play and you can throw golf rules out the door. 10th Tee we were backed up 5 groups. People hitting into you, wait on every shot, etc... And the if you have an outing - don't open up the course to the public, I don't need to hear every drunk on the course and seeing 6 people on the green. You get the picture.
Golf Play at Cattails
It was slow play on Saturday, I enjoy Cattails because of the design and the difficulty of the course overall it was great the obstacles made it a challenge it took approximately 5.3 hrs to complete, clean, nice and the staff was courteous. I would play this course again.
Great course
Great course, not used to the cold weather in mid June being from Texas. Overall I would come back great greens.
Cattails 6-13-14
The course is very short and the greens, while challenging, were not in great shape. It's an average course but not one I would come back to again. The dusty, dirt road that the course sits on is also a detractor.
Great value
Played course a few times before always a good track to play for money you pay. Only problem was pace of play. Wish ranger was out there making people pick up the 5 1/2 hour pace. It was a beautiful day out so can't complain too much.
Enjoyable and challenging
Cattails is well worth the money especially if you're playing during the week. If you're playing over the weekend make sure to cancel any other plans because it's going to take almost 6 hours.
online tee time
I booked and prepaid for this course for 18 holes twice once with golf now and previously with another online site. Both times when we got there we were told that we can only play 9 holes because they have leagues, I asked them Why they have this offer and can't honor it. they said we don't make these tee times Golf now does. (not buying that.) .Finally the person behind the counter said since the whether wasn't that good the league canceled so that's how we got to play 18 this time .
Extremely slow play
We waited all day for a foursome to have 10 minute conversations on every tee and around every shot. There were no Marshall's to help speed up the pace of play.
