GOOD PLACE TO PRACTICE YOUR GAME

This is a course you have to play once to understand where to hit the tee shot. Greens were good with a good speed to them. General maintenance shabby. And tee times are ALWAYS behind. And the last 2 times I was there they DIDN'T have ANY carts They have no clue about speed of play. They are trying to do as little as possible and make the most money. But a good place to play and not care about score.

Good Condition

The course condition was good and I believe it would be getting better in summer.
I think Cattail is intermidiate or difficult for the yardage and some greens were difficult for me, but I enjoyed.

Great course but pace of play was horrible

Really nice course, but the pace of play was terrible. 5.5 hrs to play 18 holes. There supposedly was a ranger on the course, but we never saw him. the starter was 25 min behind the tee times when we checked in. It was really windy, but that just added to the challenge of the course. We would play the course again most likley, but NOT on a Sunday. For it being so early in the season, and 5.5 hr round is unacceptable.

In great condition for this time of year!

Great course for the money. Have played a few courses with damaged greens/fairways from the harsh winter and was surprised to see NONE here! Excellent condition for this time of year. I would highly recommend playing on these greens as opposed to some of the courses in the area.

First time trouble...

Not having a GPS available or much experience with the course equal disaster. course would have been much more enjoyable a second round in the knowledge to keep the driver in the bag. besides pace of play I have no complaints.

If you want to take driver out of the bag ...

this is a course you could shoot 6 shots better on a second round immediately after your first. Pay attention to lay up yardage and hole layout. If you dont have GPS or course knowledge ....may god save you and bring a few extra balls.

A fun course to play.

A challenging course with doglegs left and right, blind tee shots and lots of cattails.

The course is a lesson in playing correct position on the course.

Cattail is a beautiful course, one that makes you think before hitting the ball, and hope that it goes where you intended it to go. you quickly learn NOT to challenge and play smart. The greens were well kept with a high degree of difficulty in execution of putts.

The staff was nice and made you feel welcome. My playing partner had never played the course before but immediately said that he would like to play it again. There was not many people out there playing, so I can't say for sure if you would feel rushed by a ranger. No one was on duty while we were playing.

Good experience and will do it again.

One of the worst golf experiences ever.

One of the worst golf experiences ever. Sunday afternoon, NO RANGERS, NO MANAGER on duty, and after 5+ hours we still could not finish the round. Don't green fees include more than just admission to a piece of land called a golf course?

Very pretty course with lots of hazards.

Off the beaten path but a real treasure. The front nine was enjoyable and a bit easier than the back nine. The back nine had a lot of very sharp dog legs which required laying up to get a view of the rest of the hole but it was a good time. Staff was very nice and they had a lunch special at the turn. I would play this course again.

Nice Course

Very well maintained. Course knowledge is key. I was fortunate to play with players that knew the course and where to hit it off the tee which made it much more playable and enjoyable. My GPS also was a big help. Without this.....add 10 strokes to your score. Some greens were difficult to read but rolled true. Overall, the course was a lot of fun and well worth the trip.

This course has great features

In fairness I should mention that I was alone and booked behind a woman's league so play seemed slow. Some interesting holes but ended up only playing 9.

Nice course, slow play

I had not played this course in over 20 years. Received a great golfnow.com rate for a Sunday afternoon. Conditions were good.

I have two complaints. Pace of play was terrible. Approximately 5 hours for a course that is not long. Had to wait on every hole. No rangers on the course and the tee ranger even said "we have you paired with another two-some, but it shouldn't be a problem, so go out by yourself". Certainly showed a lack of course management. Second complaint. The scorecard does not show the course layout. Holes 8, 9 and many on the back nine are blind shots. Hit good tee shots only to find one OB and one on the fringe. Definitely need to know the course. Probably won't play again because of the slow play.

Quality Course, Reasonable Price

This is a fun course, depending on the tee box you choose to play it can be on the short end of things. I've played both the white and the blue tees here, just depends on who I'm playing with. The course is usually in good shape and I appreciate the variety of holes on the course. Cattails has a nice mix of holes that demand accuracy and others that allow you to bomb away. The front 9 is much more open, while the back 9 requires you to be a bit more accurate and often consider using something other than driver off the tee. My favorite is #10, which gives even me (not a big hitter) a chance for eagle with a gutsy 180 yard 2nd shot over the wetlands. One thing I found odd this year was that they actually had leagues running on a Saturday morning, also, the pro shop has either been under construction or permanently taken over by an indoor simulator if you care about that sort of thing...

Worthwhile Course

Great conditions, tricky greens. The back nine can be extra challenging if you don't have the right yardage & course knowledge. A GPS or laser goes a long way. Only downside is the course can only be accessed by a dirt road
