First timer
First time playing this course. What i paid for the round, I was very pleased!! I will be back!!
Course was in great shape
Played on July 2nd, the course and greens were in really good shape. Great value with this deal.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COURSE
Visited to Cattails Golf Club in South Lyon, MI on May 9, 2015 for the first time. The course is located off dirt, gravel road - maybe, this should have been my first red flag.
I wouldn’t consider this course as anything special, but can be challenging if you are not familiar with the layout.
My foursome consisted of golfers who consistently score 40-55 per nine.
They started us about 20 minutes AFTER our scheduled tee time.
At the turn we stopped to buy hot dog combos (about $5.50 for a hot dog, small bags of chips and a fountain drink) for each of us, but the guy behind the counter wouldn’t let us stop to eat because the group behind us closing in quickly.
Then on the next hole, not only did we choke down our food, but two other course staff came by to inform us that we needed to pick up play because the 3-some in front of us was creating a gap. Really? How special they much feel to conclude that a 3-some is moving at a faster rate than a 4-some. Smart staff.
For the remaining 8-holes, the group behind us were never closer than a 1-2 holes to us. So instead of allowing 4 paying customers to enjoy themselves, the staff felt it necessary to unnecessarily rush us when there was no reason.
Well, they can expect the four of us to take our business to someone else. When you pay to play, there shouldn’t be any reason why we shouldn’t enjoy ourselves without feeling unnecessarily harassed.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COURSE. There are a number of other courses in the area that I think you would enjoy more without the rude attitude if you don’t golf at the rate of a professional.

great course to play
Course was in good shape for this early in the year and it was not over crowded like most golf courses will allow, it is a challenging course and the price you could not beat we had an amazing time.
tuff place
The name is cattails golf it should say field of cattails, unless you are semi pro you should not play here, yes the course is in ok shape the greens were good shape for mid spring not for your weekend golfer very intimidating and only a few signs on tee boxes overall the place is run down needs help, but if not for my golf now app and only 12.00 bucks it makes it all better.
Nice Place to enjoy your day
Nice place to play, great views of course as well. Not so easy or difficult, moderate challenges
Nice course
Gotta keep the ball straight on this one. There are better courses in the area but this is a nice course. The front is a lot better than the back unless you never want to hit a driver. 18 is the only hole on the back to hit a driver. Fun course that makes you hit some challenging shots. The greens are tough it is very important to leave your ball beneath the hole. Overall nice course and when it's on a hot deal I would play it again.
Lots of layup shots and sloping greens
Course was in great shape for early April especially after the recent rain. Best greens I have seen this early (not aerated). Lots of long iron and hybrid shots as driver is sometimes not playable due to doglegs and hazards. Was a slow pace of play of 5 hours. Driving range was not open at this time.
Great price for 18 with a cart
Too early in the season to really give a review, but for $15 it was a great deal. I played it last summer and remember it being a tough course, mainly because of the greens. They were fine, just really tough with the hole placement and most of the greens slope in different directions. Challenging, but still a nice place and good prices even during peak months.
Cattails GC
It was great ! I thought still mud and not good condition out there but even the greens are okay.
Cattails GC is now very good conditions more than I expected.
Nice course
Course was in great shape. Leaves were no problem.Greens were aerated but still were smooth and had some speed to them. Would play this course again.
beautiful views and super nice greens
excellent course. paying only 25 bucks for this course is a steal. a little off the beaten path but sooooo well worth it when u get there.
ask the pro where the blind shots r. greens r mint
Wetlands
Nice course, fast true greens, don't be intimidated by all the wetands, named the course correctly.
great fall colors
Great afternoon of golf, staff was great amd very accommodatin. Will be back again.
Toughest greens around
Thoroughly enjoyed our outing here. Friendly staff, beautiful surroundings and some of the toughest greens I have ever played! Cart was struggling up the hills a few times and we thought we were gonna have to go Flinstones on it but other than that no issues. Can't wait to play it again and figure out the greens!!
And they have Michigan beer on tap and that's a big plus!! Loved the Diabolical IPA after our round.
Immaculate and makes you think!
Judging by the dirt road , gravel parking lot and having to walk all away around back to enter the pro shop/bar.... I was more than a little apprehensive.
Trust me it's worth the trip!
The course was finely manicured. Each hole had a beautiful view. (Many with magnificent cranes prancing about.) The greens and fairways were cut to private club expectations. The greens presented were fast, rolling and had challenging pin placements.
great layout, has some challenging holes
The greens are fast which is fine, but many of the pin placements were in the middile of a hill or top of a crown. Difficult to charge putts which were downhill.
Had two approaches just before the pin and watched it back up off the green.
Otherwise, play the course often, usually the greens and pin placements aren't as punitive.
Tough Course
I'm not a great golfer and this course wore me out. You find out quickly why it's called Cattails, they are everywhere. One tip- Hit irons off of a lot of tees. Fairways are tight. One more tip- bring a few extra sleeves.
If you are a single handicap I believe this course would still be a challenge.
Cattails
Challenging course, lots of placements shots. But has some beautiful sights into the greens. Love playing here.
