Great price for 18 with a cart
Too early in the season to really give a review, but for $15 it was a great deal. I played it last summer and remember it being a tough course, mainly because of the greens. They were fine, just really tough with the hole placement and most of the greens slope in different directions. Challenging, but still a nice place and good prices even during peak months.
Cattails GC
It was great ! I thought still mud and not good condition out there but even the greens are okay.
Cattails GC is now very good conditions more than I expected.
Nice course
Course was in great shape. Leaves were no problem.Greens were aerated but still were smooth and had some speed to them. Would play this course again.
beautiful views and super nice greens
excellent course. paying only 25 bucks for this course is a steal. a little off the beaten path but sooooo well worth it when u get there.
ask the pro where the blind shots r. greens r mint
Wetlands
Nice course, fast true greens, don't be intimidated by all the wetands, named the course correctly.
great fall colors
Great afternoon of golf, staff was great amd very accommodatin. Will be back again.
Toughest greens around
Thoroughly enjoyed our outing here. Friendly staff, beautiful surroundings and some of the toughest greens I have ever played! Cart was struggling up the hills a few times and we thought we were gonna have to go Flinstones on it but other than that no issues. Can't wait to play it again and figure out the greens!!
And they have Michigan beer on tap and that's a big plus!! Loved the Diabolical IPA after our round.
Immaculate and makes you think!
Judging by the dirt road , gravel parking lot and having to walk all away around back to enter the pro shop/bar.... I was more than a little apprehensive.
Trust me it's worth the trip!
The course was finely manicured. Each hole had a beautiful view. (Many with magnificent cranes prancing about.) The greens and fairways were cut to private club expectations. The greens presented were fast, rolling and had challenging pin placements.
great layout, has some challenging holes
The greens are fast which is fine, but many of the pin placements were in the middile of a hill or top of a crown. Difficult to charge putts which were downhill.
Had two approaches just before the pin and watched it back up off the green.
Otherwise, play the course often, usually the greens and pin placements aren't as punitive.
Tough Course
I'm not a great golfer and this course wore me out. You find out quickly why it's called Cattails, they are everywhere. One tip- Hit irons off of a lot of tees. Fairways are tight. One more tip- bring a few extra sleeves.
If you are a single handicap I believe this course would still be a challenge.
Cattails
Challenging course, lots of placements shots. But has some beautiful sights into the greens. Love playing here.
Bring a good putter
Loved the course overall. Greens were very fast and never flat. Pin placements challenging. The fairway is certainly a friend to have!
challenging greens
Course is in great condition. Course management is key. Strategic tee shots are imperative. Lightning fast greens. Extremely slopey. Almost goofy golf greens. Extremely difficult for the average golfer. You better be good with the flat stick or its going to be a day filled with 3 putts. Most likely the toughest greens to putt in Michigan. But still fun. Very good test.
Difficult but well kept
Course is clean and kept up. Definitely a difficult course that lives up to it's name.
Pace of play made the round tedious
There was no ranger on the course to monitor pace of play. The 18 holes took over 5 hours and we waited on every hole. At times there were 3 groups backed up on a hole. This experience really took away from what is a beautiful course.
Forced Carries/Long Iron Tee Shots
Course is in good shape and scenic. Played high school golf here and still do not appreciate marsh land being located in areas that would be considered good tee balls.
Cattails golf course
This course was in good shape and dry. The only time I had a problem was when it rained because the course holds water . I think it could be priced a little better but it was in great condition
Close holes
Tees and greens seem on top of each other. Day i played was very slow. Will not play again.
Less then what I remember from a dozen years ago
I first played Cattails about 12 years ago, it seemed to have a feeling of a semi private club. This time the course felt a little rough around the edges. Cart path were deteriorated. Ball washers were lacking water. Restrooms were not in pristine condition. The course itself is challenging, with roly-poly greens and challenging rough. The staff is extremely friendly and a fairly good selection of craft beers. At $25 this is a great value - but full price would be a little bit pricey.
