Green Tree Golf Course

Had a tee time on for 12:05 pm 9/17/22. As usual we arrived a half hour early. I was not paying attention and when I got rung up the desk man charged all of us $38.00 instead of the $35.00 after 12 rate. He said we could go right out as there was no wait. No wonder. They are that hard up for $12.00 more he had to trick us?

Tee boxes were old pieces of cut sod that was totally dead. Some tee boxes were so bad they had temporary ones set up. There was no drinking water or any water in the ball washers. Crabgrass infested everything but the greens. The greens were super hard and burnt to a crisp. The sand traps were OK but not trimmed and some weeds were invading into them.

Pace of play was brisk as not many were playing this dump. Golf carts ran fine but they needed a good cleaning. I did not even feel like using news balls as the course gave such a low-class appearance. The one good thing was the cart paths. They must have used all of their COVID money to fix them.

It appeared they were more attentive to the wedding venue tents than to the course.

Never is a long time but I will try NEVER to return.

It's a nice little coarse but conditions weren't good. The tee boxes were like hitting off a carpet with all dead sod. The fairways had little grass which was all burnt up. Crab grass everywhere. The greens were very slow with lots of dead spots. You get what you pay for.

A couple of the t boxes are in tragic condition but what do you expect for a walk on $29-45 course?

There is one guy that works there that is very aggressive and creates confrontation. The rest of the staff is chill. Book online, they often charge you a few bucks more when you book there.

Greens are really rough on a few holes but really nice on others when they are cut. Lots of amateurs out there so you can get behind some slow players at times. It could be so much more but it just isn't. Still a good value yo get in repetitions.

We are vacationing and wanted to get in a quick (cheap) round early in the week. We decided to go here because it fit the bill. We were charged $40 and given a senior discount only when I asked about it. We could have waited 20 minutes for a GolfNow price of $26, but paid and played. The course was in the worst condition of any course I've played in my 50+ years of playing golf. The guys in the pro shop said they were hit hard by a local drought. The conditions we saw were more than would be caused by a recent drought. Much of what we saw was from long-time neglect. Crabgrass abounds at this course, so, if you like playing on crabgrass, this is the course for you. The fringes of EVERY green were ALL crabgrass. You could not putt effectively from it and it was difficult to chip from it as well. There were NO good tees on the course. Most were in some state of repair; all had been lost from the drought or neglect. The fairways were horrendous. The majority of the fairway surface area was either dirt/sand or dead grass.

All this said, I would like to play this course if they ever get their grass back. It is a nice layout with plenty of challenges. There are lots of doglegs that require a player to use something other than driver from the tee. The greens were slow but puttable despite some damage on the greens as well. Frankly, I don't know how one would know if their conditions have improved, but I'd be willing to play again if I knew they had. Until then, $10 for a cart and golf is more than enough to pay,.

Unreal! Every tee box was destroyed, I guess they tried adding new sod, but for sod to grow, you need to water it. Definitely will not come back here again. We played with 2 other gentleman that stated 2 months ago this place was decent, I laughed. It certainly didn’t show it yesterday

I've played this course only one month earlier and the course was in very good repair, and at the price of only $38 was a very excellent value. HOWEVER, this past week, after a month of ceasing watering the fairways and tee boxes (only watered the greens) this course was largely un-playable. It added 20 strokes to my game and cost me a few lost balls to boot. I would bet it is at least 2 years to get the course back into shape.

Tee boxes mostly burned, no grass. Fairways mix of weeds, grass spots, dirt. Greens in mostly good shape at least. It is what it is. With golf prices these days, the price here is what makes it tolerable. Overall it’s a fun tract, don’t really need to pull out driver much. It’s good course to learn at but can be tough for those more experienced. Just don’t expect great conditions and because of the price, county course, etc. many go there to learn so expect a slow pace of play at peak times.

Tee boxes were not good. Paved golf cart paths were a welcome surprise.

Paid 40.00 , which was way too much, better off going to Mays Landing. Course from tee box to fairway was in horrible condition. Won’t be back

The course has gotten beaten up pretty bad this summer due to the heat and lack of rain! Overall though for the price, I couldn’t really complain too much. Hopefully in the fall we can get a little more rain and the course can recover a little bit.

Good value for the money to walk this course (weekday, after 11, $22/ea). Love the par 6 hole, though it doesn’t play that long. Short, shot maker’s course, fun track to see if you can go low, good practice teeing irons and hybrids and having a wedge to the green (or a short ‘feel’ shot). Drought conditions are hurting everyone; course was in decent shape, all things considered.

It could have been the drought, but he fairways need serious watering.

The rough when too hard, has sharp gravel and can really cause deep scratches on the sole of your clubs. If I am in a bald and hard spot, I just take relief, with permission from my friends and play it on a patch with grass

Very disappointed with conditions of fairways and greens,went downhill in the last 3 weeks. Fairways poor burnt out and crabgrass. Greens had many bare spots.

First time playing course, and some really cool holes, a par 6 on the 3rd hole, and overall a par 72 for a very short course (5350 from the whites) with many driveable par 4’s, but with lots of danger in doing so. More like a target golf course that required precise short tee shots, lots of irons off the tees on par 4’s.

Staff friendly, food amenities were good, and price was reasonable.

The bad? Course was in awful shape (other than the greens which were well kept) , possibly one of the worst conditions I have ever seen on a golf course.

The 1st tee they attempted to resod the entire tee box – all if it died. Most Tee boxes were mostly dirt, hard to find level area for your feet. The fairway greens were non-existent, often hitting fairways shots that were like hitting off a hard cart path.

The ladies tees (I played with my wife) looked like they just random;y through them anywhere, not even an identified tee box, and some with no grass at all.

My wife kept apologizing for the course (since she had recommended we give it a try since we were going to be down toward the shore), and then said, she would never play it again. She even suggested we should ask for our money back.

I probably would not be as critical, the course, for the price, the layout, would be worth another shot, but maybe late spring, or even late fall, when the course might be in better shape.
