Flanders Valley Golf Club - White/Blue Course
About
Flanders Valley Golf Course has received praise as not only one of the best public golf courses in New Jersey, but also as one of the best in the U.S. Flanders offers two 18-hole championship courses, White-to-Blue and Red-to-Gold. The courses are spread across over 400 acres of Morris County's idyllic countryside. The White-to-Blue Course has a more traditional layout that sprawls across mostly flat terrain. The golf course may lack elevation changes but there are an abundance of mature trees to contend with on either side of the course, making it very tight in some spots. One of the most memorable holes is the par-4 14th, nicknamed "Top and Right." This slight dogleg left hole has a pond bordering the entire left side of the fairway.

Pretty, memorable finisher! Photo submitted by MarkMolyneux on 11/16/2015
Nice shape for this time of year.
Great shape for this time of year. Greens were fantastic.
Nice layout
Great value
Course is in great shape however the greens are very slow as they have been for the past 40 years!
Great Public Course
I played this course twice this season (2013) and had a great experience both times. The course is being maintained in excellent condition. Fairways are luscious green and no dry patches or weeds anywhere. Staff is generally friendly, although, the first time we played the guy locking up the carts wasn't too thrilled when we were the last ones to return. We were simply following the group in front of us. But, that didn't stop me going back there.
Enjoyable Round!
The Blue was closed for irrigation maintenance so we played White to Gold. The fairways on the White were fairly wide, yet presented some challenges. One particular par 5 has a double dogleg. The Gold is narrower and has more pitch in the fairways.
The greens on both were very slow and difficult to read. Since this was the first time we had played here, I can't say whether this is typical.
Overall, I would definitely play here again.
Great Course
The course was in PERFECT shape ! Very well maintained.
The guys in the pro shop were very friendly, the rest of the the staff were very grouchy and completely disinterested .
I will play Flanders again despite the staff.
Course was a good value for the money
The fairways on the gold course needed to be cut. The greens on the White & Gold courses, the ones we played this day are in good shape. Greens where a little on the slow side. It appears they may have been worked on recently.
Course in good shape...mostly
Was supposed to play red to gold but they changed us from red to white. Front nine of red was in really good shape but the white greens were what I would call poor condition. Heavily aerated and sanded. Slow and bumpy. Most fairways and tee boxes were in excellent condition. I play here frequently and overall the conditions were good. Only 3 stars because of the poor greens on white.
Perfect example of why I live 5 minutes away and hardly play here
I want to make this my regular course, since I live less than 5 minutes away. Every time I play here (maybe once a year) I am reminded why it's only that frequent, and they give me reason to stay away from this place. First of all, I get there and have to walk my clubs from the parking lot to the pro shop. No big deal, except I play at courses where I pay half the price and have a person waiting to put my clubs in a cart when I pull up. I also looked around for a few minutes but there was no bag stand which shows a lack of respect for my equipment (had to lean my bag against a rock wall to go in and pay). Second, the ONLY reason I signed up here is because it showed availability on the Blue/White 18 (I prefer that much more than Red/Gold). I am not told until after I pay and get everything ready that Blue/White is closed. The excuse they gave me is that they close one 18 every Tuesday, and the website always shows Blue/White (which is an outright lie). Thanks for making it feel like a bait and switch and GolfNow and every other site they use should know this. Should have been told inside pro shop (I said to the guy inside that I signed up for Blue/White at least a couple of times and he never mentioned anything and my receipt says Blue/White also). You would think then that they would make sure that everything is fine on Red/Gold, but there was a massive backup starting on number 10 because "the irrigation system was being worked on 13 and causing a backup." Got to 13, and no work was being done on it, and the backup got worse after that. I think the starter stuffed a few of his buddies on Gold and said forget everybody else, cause I saw people playing on Gold that I did not see on Red. Other minor thing that food stand did not have everything they had listed on menu (like every time I have been there) but that is nothing really. Felt like I was just a number and amazed this course is as busy as it is considering price and attitude. Played Berkshire Valley and experience is exact opposite which is amazing considering they are both owned by county. I may be playing during the week, but I play every week on Tuesdays (unless I go in for work which is maybe once per month), and after that experience I will never sucker myself into playing this course again.
one of my favorite courses
I played on Tuesday which is maintenance day in Flanders. So, even though we booked White/Blue we played Red/Gold. The course was in good shape for September, with some greens being bumpy on Gold 9. We played at a good pace and finished the round in under 4 hrs which was great. The price was great too.
Fun course to play and in good condition, lots of dogs
The blue and white is fun because of the layout. There are many dog legs so you have to hit a lot of exact yardage shots. Even some of the par 5's have to be played all the way with irons. The greens were nice,I liked it more than the red and gold, not many dead straight holes. It's not long but it keeps you honest..
Red Gold Interesting
Front Nine - wide open side by side lanes - somewhat boring.
Back Nine- Love this set of holes. A totally different course. I would play the nine twice every time. Greens are well maintained and run moderately fast but true. Unfortunately this is a very popular gold course and always very bush. 4 1/2 to 5 hours is to be expected. Not much in the way of course management by the so-called rangers.
Wonderful day of golf in a quiet peaceful setting
Morris county golf courses are a class act. Great condition, friendly staff.....well worth the ride for me. I'm from passaic county and our courses are awful. I will gladly ride the 40 miles to play again. White to blue or red to gold...both great! Highly recommend
The course is always in great shape. Exellent greens and fairways.
I've been playing here for over 20 years, and the course is still one of the best around. Greens are in great shape, as are the fairways.
Nice course, well managed
Very nice course, well maintained, great staff. Conditions were very good, greens in late August almost perfect. Only problem is pace of play. Too many golfers placed too close to each other. If I have to wait three to 4 minutes on every hole that's another HOUR added to our playing time, and that's almost a deal breaker. With days getting shorter that is a deal breaker.
Well maintained
Played the red/gold course. Gold course was more hilly and challenging than the red. Both were very good though. Scenic and well maintained. Both greens and fairways were in excellent shape for this time of year. Staff was very friendly, let us out a little early which was great for a Saturday.
Worth the time
Its a challenging track that is well maintained, especially for a county course in NJ. Greens are in good shape...could be a bit faster. Overall, its a good track worth your time.
Wonderful public course, well maintained.
Played a great round on this challenging course. Fairways and greens are in great shape.
this course has a great layout
condition was fair. Tees and Fringe on greens was not cut. Fairways were not cut.
great day of golf
Played White/Blue. It was very well maintained and challenging. Played from the Blues and had a great time.
Great Muni Track
I played Blue to White on a Friday afternoon and for a municipal course the pace of play was very except-able. The course was in great shape. On this day the greens were a little slower than I like em but I don't believe that's the norm. Very nice golf course and a great value.
