Bowling Green Golf Club
About
Bowling Green Golf Club is in the heart of northern New Jersey, surrounded by miles of idyllic countryside. An abundance of mature oaks and towering red pines characterizes the scenic course. This quick, shady layout is a great round for walkers. The golf course has a classic links design that is easily played in less than four hours. Like most traditional links courses, the gently undulating terrain has the perfect pitch and roll. It also provides each hole with unique challenges that require accuracy and strategy. Trees heavily line the fairways, presenting some of the course's most formidable challenges. Bowling Green Golf Club's front nine is slightly more forgiving than the back nine, which incorporates the natural ponds and wetlands on a few holes. There are also some tricky doglegs to contend with.

6th Tee Photo submitted by agurango on 05/24/2013
Not worth the money
I know it was early season but the greens were in terrible shape. If u know the greens are that bad of shape at least lower your prices til the course is up to par. Overall the course is a nice challenging course just disappointed paying almost $90. The greens weren't even blown they had alot of debris on them
Overpriced for the conditions
Nice layout, pace of play was good. Conditions were not great for $130 round of golf. Greens had recently been aerated, bunkers were hard sand some had large rocks in them, tee boxes were pretty torn up, Definitely not worth the money.
Greens still slow
The greens are not worth the midseason prices at the moment. They’re basically still aerated/slow/sandy. The course is in great shape other than that. Pace was super slow today.
first time there
Slightly a little pricey but staff was very nice and course was very clean and well maintained. Would probably revisit again in future.
Price doesn’t match quality
Have been playing at Bowling Green for years. Year over year the price continues to go up and it’s disappointing that the course has not improved at all, in fact the conditions have taken a step backwards. Frankly, last years prices were starting to get steep for what you got and the fact that it’s over an hour from NYC and now that it’s ~$130 with deteriorating conditions really makes no sense. The staff is tremendous, the layout is fun but the greens, tee boxes and now the fairways are hurting. Recognizing they’ve aerated the greens but they don’t appear to be watered amply to come back as expected, the tee boxes are chewed up, the bunkers are tough to explain but a bit chunky and the fairways had a lot of patchiness going on. The fairway piece was most frustrating. Not sure if this is drainage or lack of overseeding or what it is but it’s not good. I’m giving this review in hopes that this constructive criticism is taken in the best way possible. I’ve been very loyal to BG over the years, hosting friends, family and colleagues so I want to continue coming back and enjoying a place I’ve enjoyed for years. That said, this years prices and conditions are very disappointing. Hope the price are pulled back a bit here and that conditions are improved. Again, I realize it’s early in the season but the prices are already beyond peak prices from last year and the conditions are trending down. Optimistic this will change.
Overpriced for aerated greens
Didn’t let anyone know they were aerating greens and we paid 86 for a Tuesday tee time
Bowling green
Bowling green is always in great shape even in March pace of play was great staff was wonderful
Classy public club
I’ve been playing Bowling Green for years, sparingly as it’s pricey. Let me say starting from the top down the staff has always conducted themselves like gentleman. Recently I played and booked on GN. Through an error the aeration alert was not activated. The starter in a most generous way asked us to come back and play again next year and offered us a full credit. Complimentary driving range, humble accommodating staff. In a word classy organization could not recommend a course more than this one in NJ.
Tight fairways, great experience.
Always a treat to play this course. Fairways are tight, so accuracy pays off here. Staff always makes you feel welcome. The driving range is a huge benefit... great to warm up before a round.
