Incredible value nestled right across from Philadelphia
I have been playing Pennsauken almost weekly for a while now and it is an incredible value compared to other courses in the area. While it rivals other areas in price, it is certainly in much better shape and provides a challenge to any skilled golfer. While the course is pretty open, the greens provide a challenge and if you do miss the fairway the rough in certain spots is thick, but well maintained. I look forward to my next challenge at the Sauk
Saturday afternoon Pennsauken
I am about a 25-28 handicap and I find this course very challenging. Greens are generally in excellent condition. Fairways are pretty narrow. The course rewards accuracy much more than distance. There are many par 4 holes where the right move is to not hit driver and there are a few par 4 holes that are 400 yds or more. Walkable for 9 holes. Never tried to walk 18 here but I think very tough.
Decent course but not worth the money.
Was there mid day on a Tuesday and it was surprisingly crowded. The starter looked annoyed I even approached him to ask him a question. I don't expect much in those situations but sitting there looking completely disinterested in everything is a bad look. The course itself was pretty good but was expecting nicer conditions throughout the course. Not at all worth the 80 bucks I paid. Not sure I'll ever go back. It shouldn't take 4+ hours to finish a round in the middle of the day on a Tuesday. Seems like the proximity of being close to Philly keeps this place pretty busy it seems. Must be awful on the weekends if you hate slow pace like I do and try to play when it's typically less crowded.
Slow Play
No ranger on course, play slower than it needed to be, called proshop when our group was on back nine and informed them that a foursome had over 2 holes open in front of them and were holding up play, was told a ranger would come out and speak to them, we saw no one..
Where pace of play goes to die
Made the turn and the starter looked shocked that there was still several groups playing 18. It was only 615pm. He clearly lost track of the sheet and sent groups off the back 9.
Standard Money Grab
Besides the unfriendly staff, the management absolutely crams people in here. They even shotgun started a tournament after sending the first 8-10 tee times first thing in the morning. Roll up to the tenth tee and see 3 groups on the next hole
First Timer
Course excellent shape. Challenging yet not difficult. Putting a little challenge but when I play again you will have a better idea of the greens.
