Harkers Hollow Golf Club
About
Nestled in the hills of Scotts Mountain, Harkers Hollow Golf Club was carved from a sloping hillside, giving it a challenging terrain with plenty of elevation changes. Opened in 1929, the golf course has a classic layout designed by Robert White, the first president of the PGA of America. Although it is a seemingly mild 6,551 yards from the back tees, the course plays much longer and harder thanks to the undulating terrain. The layout does offer a few lengthy holes as well as some interesting par 3s. The greens are small and fast with breaks ranging from subtle to dramatic. There is hardly any water but the Lopatcong Creek does run the entire length of the golf course and requires the occasional carry. The par-3 fifth hole is the club's signature. It is particularly notable for its scenery, which is why it has served as the backdrop for many weddings.

No Maintance
rough hasn't been mowed for some time if the ball bounces out of the fairway it is in 10 inches of grass, lost many. hydraulic oil striped on greens, what a mess. don't go there!
Used to be a nice course
The rough was so bad you could lose your ball in the 1st cut off the fairway. If you're going to play there, use GolfNow as it is not worth the $49 they want to charge you.
Waiting for some TLC
The course is in the process of being sold so the grass was a little bit long but the course layout and staff were very friendly. The course could be the very nice once it's sold and the new owners do the upkeep on the course better. The clubhouse and pool , all the amenities looked very nice I'm sure the course is a gem waiting for the right owner.
Awful!
*This course was recently sold.* I preface this because it seems the owners didn't spend a dime on this course all year knowing that.
The carts are antique's, the pro shop is bare, no water or towels for the ball washers, tee boxes are rough, tee yardage markers on ground are over grown, sand traps have no sand and are weed traps, fairway are non existent, rough's are overgrown, greens are diseased and have hydraulic fluid on 1/2 of them.
This is one of those course's that they should pay you to play.
Well hit balls are lost in the overgrown fairways and roughs, greens are bumpy and super slow, carpaths are unmaintained and poorly marked, they're no yard markers for 100-150-200 yards that are visible.
Overall I recommend staying away from this course until it has been properly maintained by the new owners.
Horribly maintained
This course was awful. There were basically no fairways and the grass all around was incredibly high. We'll hit balls were lost and sand traps were foot-tall grass traps.
Harkers Hollow Disaster
This course hasn't been maintained in months. Bare spots on the greens, the fairways and rough were too long. When the grass was cut, the clippings were not picked up. More than $5 for greens fee is high.
Harkers Hollow Disaster
This course is being sold and hasn't had maintenance for months. The greens were covered with bald spots, the fairways and rough are all overgrown. Where they did cut the grass, they didn't pickup the clippings. This place is just awful.
Very sad
What used to be a great golf course has deteriorated to a cow pasture. One could lose a ball in the fairways or what pass for fairways. The greens are diseased and untended, uncut.
DONT WAST YOUR TIME OR MONEY. ALAS!!
Nice course but needs maintenance and upkeep
It seemed like the fairways and rough had not been trimmed in a week. Several ball washers with no water/no towels. Also, the shack at the turn was closed while we were there and that was missed opportunity for the course as our group was ready for a snack and beverages.
Changing ownership?
Terrible condition. Sand traps have morphed into grass traps. Rough was all over - could not find well-hit balls. Course was in the worst condition of any I have played over the last half-century!
Harkers
You get what you pay for. New management takes over at the end of the month so it will be interesting to see the changes they make. They will certainly need some money in order to rework much of the course. Fairways and tee boxes are in need of work.
Course property being auctioned off
I wasn't aware that the property was being auctioned off until I arrived for the tee time. Having said that, I would have thought it would be in better shape in order to attract higher bids. Bad news.... I was wrong. Good news....The property was purchased and will continue as a golf course. I'm sure with some TLC it will be returned to more acceptable playing conditions. All amenities were closed for months leading up to the auction.
Good value
This course was once a beautiful private club but is not in the best condition. Recently sold and the new owners say they will bring it back to it's former glory. I will continue to play because of the value and hope to see improvements soon.
Just getting my swings in
Course was in better condition than I've seen it. Glad for the deal on GolfNow app.
Not like Harkers Hollow Growing up
Wow, I spent many days at Harkers Hollow pool back in the 70's. And a wedding in 1988. The entire place is not the same as I remembered. There is no snack bar. The pool is closed. The tennis court is a mess.
The entire place is up for public auction on July 11, 2017. Hopefully someone will take over this property and bring it back to the glory of how I remembered it growing up.
I am a very new golf player, so I thought lets go play there at a cheap price. Well, there is no water in the ball cleaners. No bathroom accept in the closed restaurant. They were mowing the 1st hole when we arrived at 1 pm today. You dare not hit your ball any where other then the green.....there are tons of clover and clumps of dried up grass. What an entire shame.
