About
Sunset Valley Golf Course is consistently ranked as one of the best public courses in New Jersey. It is one of four golf courses in the Morris County Parks system and it's considered the toughest. Located in Pompton Plains, the course is nestled in a wooded valley. It has a dramatic topography that provides plenty of ups and downs throughout the golf course. Golfers can expect a variety of elevation changes as well as a few blind shots and forced carries. Strategically placed bunkers come into play along the fast, undulating greens and mature trees line the rolling fairways. Water hazards come into play on a few holes too. Sunset Valley Golf Course's final three holes present one of the area's toughest finishes. The trio begins with the uphill par-5 16th and then finishes with two long par 4s.

Fun Track. Needs some TLC.
The course itself is.scenic and challenging. Tight tee shots and tough greens. Some tee boxes need serious repair.
Negative, lots of garbage and debris near tee boxes that should be cleaned up. Trash cans knocked over and beer bottles thrown in the woods.
Sis set Valley GC “A Hidden Gem”
This is the 2nd time I played this course in a month. A Morris County Public Course that rivals many private tracks. Beauty vistas and hole views. Love the layout. Shot an 85 today from the blues. Great friendly staff too.

Greens awful
This course is very challenging, but the greens are not friendly and should not be so hard for a county course.
The slopes are ridiculous, unless you are a foot from the pin, you are putting 3 at least.

Slow slow slow
FIVE AND A HALF HOUR ROUND!!! not a ranger in sight, brutal slow play.
Course outperformed player...
At first, I thought there was an issue with the course, but once I put my driver away the round was cleaned up.
The staff was friendly and the course very well maintained. I was fortunate enough to get one if the first loops and the foursome ahead let our pair play through.
Greens were consistent and the course forces you to focus on accuracy, not distance.
Looking forward to my next round.

Not an easy course
Need TLC but did a hole in one on the 3rd hole 190 yards 5 wood.
Mountain golf
Course in good condition. Staff friendly. First time playing course is tough because you need to know where to hit some blind shots to the greens. Fun course
