About
Sunset Valley Golf Course is consistently ranked as one of the best public courses in New Jersey. It is one of four golf courses in the Morris County Parks system and it's considered the toughest. Located in Pompton Plains, the course is nestled in a wooded valley. It has a dramatic topography that provides plenty of ups and downs throughout the golf course. Golfers can expect a variety of elevation changes as well as a few blind shots and forced carries. Strategically placed bunkers come into play along the fast, undulating greens and mature trees line the rolling fairways. Water hazards come into play on a few holes too. Sunset Valley Golf Course's final three holes present one of the area's toughest finishes. The trio begins with the uphill par-5 16th and then finishes with two long par 4s.

The layout and scenery was nice
Tuff course too play greens plays nice and fast
Pin locations was challenging
Second time at this course. Enjoy the layout. Conditions great. Will definitely play again.
Post Covid-19 Round May 22 2020
This course did a great job keeping the golfers safe. You call the club house and give a credit card so no contact and I saw the employees spraying the carts with disinfectant.
The course was in fantastic shape! We were never pushed or held up. 4 hour round. I will 100% be playing here again!
The course was in great shape. Played during new covid-19 restrictions. Not crowded at all. Enjoyed the round. Would play again.
Limited due to virus
Even with restrictions, No carts eakes etc, fun time. Tough walk if you are not accustom to walking.

Early in the season
Played this course many times and the conditions were typical for this early in the season. Limited tees and some temporary greens. Course will continue to improve as the weather improves.
