About

Sunset Valley Golf Course is consistently ranked as one of the best public courses in New Jersey. It is one of four golf courses in the Morris County Parks system and it's considered the toughest. Located in Pompton Plains, the course is nestled in a wooded valley. It has a dramatic topography that provides plenty of ups and downs throughout the golf course. Golfers can expect a variety of elevation changes as well as a few blind shots and forced carries. Strategically placed bunkers come into play along the fast, undulating greens and mature trees line the rolling fairways. Water hazards come into play on a few holes too. Sunset Valley Golf Course's final three holes present one of the area's toughest finishes. The trio begins with the uphill par-5 16th and then finishes with two long par 4s.

Not worth the money

$50 Green Fees + $20 additional for a cart. Me and friend were told we cant split a cart and it was going to be $20 each. That's a 70$ round. Not worth it. Not a fan of the course as well, nothing really stands out from this course.

Great Course!

I played Sunset for the first time today and it did not disappoint. The greens were in good shape. The course overall was good a little dry, because we are in a drought. However, one day of rain the course will be plush. I played a slow round due to my foursome. Two other groups passed through, because they played so slow.

Post Covid-19 Round May 22 2020

This course did a great job keeping the golfers safe. You call the club house and give a credit card so no contact and I saw the employees spraying the carts with disinfectant.

The course was in fantastic shape! We were never pushed or held up. 4 hour round. I will 100% be playing here again!

Even with restrictions, No carts eakes etc, fun time. Tough walk if you are not accustom to walking.
