About
Sunset Valley Golf Course is consistently ranked as one of the best public courses in New Jersey. It is one of four golf courses in the Morris County Parks system and it's considered the toughest. Located in Pompton Plains, the course is nestled in a wooded valley. It has a dramatic topography that provides plenty of ups and downs throughout the golf course. Golfers can expect a variety of elevation changes as well as a few blind shots and forced carries. Strategically placed bunkers come into play along the fast, undulating greens and mature trees line the rolling fairways. Water hazards come into play on a few holes too. Sunset Valley Golf Course's final three holes present one of the area's toughest finishes. The trio begins with the uphill par-5 16th and then finishes with two long par 4s.

Great shape
this course has never been in better shape. Fairways and greens. Tee boxes need work and some of the cart path entrances and exits
Mountain = Gravity = Curvy Putts
Sunset Valley poses a range of challenges, and the course demons that grabbed at me this time were not the ones that snagged me last time. Fairways are relatively tight and water appears more frequently toward the end of the round. Greens are protected by bunkers, but the signature challenge must be the greens themselves. The remedy? Play it again.
I particularly appreciate is the setting, including the elevation changes and vistas. Man made structures appear only from one high tee shimmering in the distance. Nirvana - but bring your A-game.
Hot Deal did not include cart
not a good deal at all, was 100 degrees and no cart
very surprised, I use golf now a lot always includes cart
Not worth the money
$50 Green Fees + $20 additional for a cart. Me and friend were told we cant split a cart and it was going to be $20 each. That's a 70$ round. Not worth it. Not a fan of the course as well, nothing really stands out from this course.
Course conditions were very good.
I enjoy playing there!
Some areas along the rough can use some work (bare spots etc.)

Course was in great shape for it being so hot out lately. They have done an excellent job.
Great Course!
I played Sunset for the first time today and it did not disappoint. The greens were in good shape. The course overall was good a little dry, because we are in a drought. However, one day of rain the course will be plush. I played a slow round due to my foursome. Two other groups passed through, because they played so slow.
The layout and scenery was nice
Tuff course too play greens plays nice and fast
