About
River Vale Country Club (formerly known as Bergen Hills Country Club.) sprawls across the gently rolling hills of northeast New Jersey. It has been ranked on Golf Digest's list of "Best Places to Play," but it still manages to remain one of Bergen County's most well kept secrets. You'll hardly ever run into crowds on this golf course. The layout has a classic design that incorporates a variety of elevation changes. Tricky uphill and downhill lies will be your biggest challenge on this layout. Strategically placed bunkers lurk beside the greensides and there are several holes where water hazards come into play, including the par-5 fifth, which has a lake on either side of the green. River Vale a tight golf course that demands accuracy and while it's not overly formidable, your skills will definitely be put to the test.

Love the course
Had a real nice round on a Thursday morning, conditions were great, but greens definitely fast, pace of play was fine. Was paired up with Dick and John who work at the course and were a pleasure to play with. Great overall experience and remains one of my favorite courses!
Awesome
The course is always in just perfect conditions. The greens will challenge you. If you hit it relatively straight you’re going to enjoy your round. Nice practice facility.
The manager Christine, The pro Chris and the starters Jay and Joe along with the entire staff are pleasant , professional and always accommodating
This is by far the best public course in the area.
Excellent restaurant and bar for before or after the round. Carts frequently passing during the round for snacks and drinks. Half way she’d for drinks or a quick burger or hot dog.. Nice carts that are always clean and ready to go. This is the way a public course should be operated.
Great course abs fair price
Course is in nice condition. Clubhouse could use some upgrades but the staff is friendly and it’s not outrageously priced.
Course
Fairways in good condition greens were very fast pin placements were all on a hill very tough to lag putting and price is way to much but I will chalk that up to everyone raising there prices due to the economy we are living in.
Good staff
The course was nice, pace of play was good. The starter Joe is welcoming and friendly. I recommend this course
