About
River Vale Country Club (formerly known as Bergen Hills Country Club.) sprawls across the gently rolling hills of northeast New Jersey. It has been ranked on Golf Digest's list of "Best Places to Play," but it still manages to remain one of Bergen County's most well kept secrets. You'll hardly ever run into crowds on this golf course. The layout has a classic design that incorporates a variety of elevation changes. Tricky uphill and downhill lies will be your biggest challenge on this layout. Strategically placed bunkers lurk beside the greensides and there are several holes where water hazards come into play, including the par-5 fifth, which has a lake on either side of the green. River Vale a tight golf course that demands accuracy and while it's not overly formidable, your skills will definitely be put to the test.

Slow play
Group ahead of us was very slow. Maybe they had another group ahead of them, idk course was pretty backed up and nothing was done about it. Pretty annoying, took almost 5 hours to finish our round.. other than that course is very nice. Pretty tough greens
Don’t miss out!
Phenomenal course! I try to play here whenever I see a t time available to fit my schedule. The course is in phenomenal condition; T boxes, fairways, greens etc are all great. Enjoy!
very nice course good bang for the buck
I like this course a lot but like many other courses in the area I do not understand why the rangers won't move people along. A few holes need a little tlc but overallit is a very nice course
Okay
A bit overpriced for the condition of the course but it was a holiday weekend. I would play here again . . . just not for $110.
Great course
The greens are in perfect condition a quite fast and with plenty of movement. Fairways mid to narrow in width so really a great test for the average golfer. Sand traps are good and the rough is playable in most places. People are friendly and I would recommend this course 100%
Public golf excellence
This is a fabulous track. The conditions are exceptional and much of the staff is pleasant. Jon, one of the starters is among the friendliest I’ve met at a NY area golf club. For $65 on a weekend, this is a steal. $100 for weekend play is reasonable vs. the garbage in the area. The greens are in great shape and have significant nuances and undulations - above the hole is always a 3 putt risk. Too bad the course isn’t 7000 yards. If it were, it would be a perfect training track. With the ball bouncing, it’s driver W into virtually every hole. Holes 13-14 are spectacular and challenging. Well done team
