About
Quail Brook Golf Course in Somerset is one of central New Jersey's top public courses. The challenging design is a favorite amongst local golfers. The layout has a diverse mix of holes, some of which are spacious and wide-open and others that are rolling and tight. Although the golf course may seem short at 6,630 yards from the back tees, don't be fooled by the yardage. The course can feel much longer thanks to the hilly terrain. The front nine has subtler undulations while the back nine is dramatically hilly, which makes it a tough course to walk. Quail Brook Golf Course's undulating fairways lead to challenging sloped greens that are framed with strategically placed bunkers. There aren't too many opportunities for driving, but your short game will definitely get a workout.

Most holes had a rise in the fairway obstructing your ability to see the group ahead when teeing off. Also long cart drives between holes. Course was challenging With bunker placement, though, and well-maintained.
Excellent condition
The course is maintained to the highest standards. Greens were flawless; excellent fairways.
Immaculate greens
First time playing here and I was super impressed with the greens. They’re not fast but they are very smooth and have some challenging slopes and undulations. Excellent warmup facilities featuring a full size driving range and a practice sand bunker. Pace of play slowed dramatically on the back nine but was okay overall. Played from the blue tees and all par fours were easily reachable in two except the 420 yard 18th.
Wanted 2 with mustard and BBQ onions
Hot Sunday (95 & sunny), played the round in 4 hours. Maybe it was too hot for most normal people to play golf. Course was in great shape, fairways and greens as they should be.
Only down side was the Sabrett truck an out of hot dogs af the turn, only had 1 dirty water dog with mustard and BBQ onions. Probably shouldn't have inhaled the dog, but was pretty hungry.
Great Course
Love this place, my favorite public, great layout great course conditions
Pace of play. Horrible
Had to leave after 10th hole . 2:45 for 10 holes with a foursome of two kids8/10 a mother who didn’t play and a father who played poorly. With the not playing mother driving a cart with three bags in it whilst the three walked. Clogged the hole course. Glad to see mgmt cared. But ranger insight
Terrific conditions
Course is in great shape as usual. They could use a ranger as the 2 foursomes ahead had 3 holes open in front on them by the middle of the back 9
Good course, would recommend
The course was in good condition and there was a good pace of play. I enjoyed using the driving range before my round. The greens were on the slower side but I give them benefit of the doubt because I’ve played here before and that was not the case.
Played here many times over the years. (Early 80s) Course drains very well. Played after.50 inches of rain the night before. Never saw a puddle anywhere. Just as nice as Monmouth County courses. And a bargain for Seniors. People are wonderful here. Just a beautiful course. Got an 8:30 Tee time the night before thanks to Golf Now!
Quail Brook Golf Course
Played 6/2/24 with a 12:00 tee time. First time playing Quail Brook or any of the Somerset County Public Courses. 1stly, thank you for having a range. I play many public courses in northern New Jersey and many of them don't have a range. The tee boxes were in excellent condition as were the greens. Most fairways were wide open with few obstructions. No water to deal with here, only bunkers. Many greens were protected and accurate shots are a must. Staff were helpful and friendly. Not much in the way of concessions but a hot dog truck in the parking lot got us through the round. I highly recommend this course for anyone looking for a well maintained course that provides a challenge.
