Best pace of play
Best pace of play in the area. Course well maintained.
This is a really good course
I play all over so I have a high bar for courses. It's not an elite course so I can't give it an excellent but it's a really good course. It's well kept, took me around 4 hours with a foursome on a crowded day and the staff was there if I needed anything. They have a range the club house has cold beer and food. I liked the course layout too, some creative holes and water in play at times.
To rate it an excellent I guess the bar could be nicer, the course could have been cleaner at the tee box and had ball washers. The course itself could have some more dramatic scenery or elevation changes.
The more important part is it's a solid course and a great value. Definitely worth a play!
Love it
Very windy, the East course is wide open, would have been better to play West course which is a little more closed in by the trees. But overall a great course.
The course was in surprisingly good condition for February
It was a treat to have an opportunity to play a round of golf in February. Staff was upbeat and helpful. A very good crowd of golfers for midweek in February and the pace of play didn't suffer at all. Practice facility was open and in good shape. I liked the idea of 2 hole locations on each green to keep the surface fresh. All in all, a Big Win to play golf in the middle of the winter.
Windy February golf
I played Mercer Oaks East just once before in the summer of 2016. Best score of my life with a 77. I returned on President's Day to join a random 4-some.
Winter golf is always a bit tricky as you don't know for sure what the weather will turn out to be. It was windy (up to 15-20 mph) and a bit chilly in the morning but by the end of the round it was around mid 60s.
The course is decent shape and the greens were in great shape for the winter months. They utilized a 2-pin system where each group moves the flag from one end of a green to another. For this reason, the greens remain in decent shape but trying to figure out distances using the red/white/blue flags was difficult.
They cut down all the fescue prior to the winter season so you won't lose any balls if you mishit. That helped given the high winds.
The biggest disappointment was the amount of goose excrement all over the course. I understand that it's the winter and only open a month at a time, but it was everywhere and even had some smeared on the greens.
Overall, a decent round and took just over 4.5 hours to complete. Not a fast round but not the worst. At one point, there were 3 groups on Hole 11 even though a ranger was driving around in a cart. They should have someone who actually notices the hold up and ask players to move on quicker.
I'm looking forward to playing West this season.
January golfing
Played a round course was a little wet rained for a few days but was fairly well drained, even with the wet conditions course was in good shape and greens were surprisingly rolling well , can't wait to play here during some dry condition
A wide open and long course with enough sand trapsi to show off the smartness of our shot directions. It 'a like an eighteen years old
Personally I like to play at the west Mercer Oak more often than the east Mercer Oak. I am a bogie player and my drive shot averages 175! The east course however makes me miss to play a round time to time, and makes me wonder why. The course surely opens my heart and mind for its wide openness for me to breath out every stresse if there were. Though there are enough interesting layouts of sand traps on the way to the green for us to show off our smart execution for our shot decision. A good course to visit time to time! A very generous course!
windy and cool but still fun
My expectations were meet on this chilly windy January afternoon. A member twosome were kind enough to let us join them as there were only foursomes in front of us. The course played very well for this time of year and i look forward to playing again when the weather improves.

Great course - well maintained
Gem of a course
Can't say enough good things about the course and the staff. Wide open fairways compliments the great design.
Enjoyed playing
Course was in amazing condition
Enjoyed play
Excellent course
Fair way and greens were excellent condition.
Mercer oak east
Excellent condition n friendly staff
Slower than molasses
Nice course, good layout, good conditions. But don't go there if you have less than 6 hours. Waited on every shot. Ranger came out to tell us we had to quit after 15 holes because of darkness. First time we had seen him since the first tee. He obviously wasn't out there getting anybody in front of us to speed up.
Poor Pace of Play
This was my second time at this course. I had a 2:20pm tee time I was unable to finish the last 2 holes due to pace of play. There was no ranger to be found to control the pace of play. The only time they came out was to let us know we couldn't finish 17,18 because he wanted to go home. Reason was that we had to bring the carts in but in reality we could have easily finished this course if they managed it better. Too many walkers and 4 somes at this course, be prepared.
Potential...but poor course conditions
Everything about this course has potential. Layout, staff, greens. Actually, the green were still in some pretty decent shape considering that just about all of the grass in the fairways and rough was below average. I know this summer killed quite a few courses, but it was still pretty bad out there. Not really rewarded for hitting the fairway.
If you like hard pan fairways
I've seen cow pastures in better shape. By all rights this coarse should be closed for the season. It will take major work to get this back in shape.
We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your round with us, Dave. We're always working to perfect our conditions and we hope you'll play here again in the future.
Like its west sibling, this course offers a real escape
Having just played Mercer Oaks West, and being very impressed, we wanted to try the east course and see how it measured up. While the east course is not as scenic or quite as challenging, it nevertheless is a pretty course, open and unblemished by perimeter houses. Unlike many public courses, tee times matter and the friendly starter/ranger was diligent in providing spacing among golfers to facilitate a nice pace of play. Both courses offer enjoyable golfing experiences at very fair prices.
Thank you so much for the kind words, Jim! We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your round with us and we hope to see you again soon!
Good course for a fall afternoon
Played on a sunday afternoon in a twosome.we got the round done in three hours and never caught a group.overall the course was in good shape and the greens rolled true.
You made great time! We're very happy to hear that and that you enjoyed your round overall.
Surprising
Having played this course quite a few times but not in while, I was surprised at the poor condition (relative to its usual condition) of the course this time. Greens were recently aerated (why no mention of this on Golf Now? no discount offered), tee boxes were poor in some areas and even the fairways were a bit beaten up on many holes. Understanding that the weather has made maintaining good course conditions challenging, Mercer Oaks usually does a better job of dealing with this.
Thank you for the feedback. We do apologize for the miscommunication about our aeration dates. The heat does make maintaining perfect conditions a challenge but we expect them to improve greatly as the heat abates. We hope you'll come and play here again soon!
