Great place to play
Amazing course! Only thing I would say is to have better signs to put you in the right hole. Started in #10 and didn’t even know it untill 4 because they were the same par. Other than not knowing the right hole we are on it was great. Also, the current signs holds are sun faded so you can’t tell which hole your on.
NMSU finally opened again
NMSU was closed for approximately 2 months but was maintained in good condition. Other than the styrofoam inserts in the putting cups everything went well. Don’t know if those styrofoam inserts helped or hindered my score.
Solid Track
Tee to green is in good shape as the grass is growing in well from the time off for Covid. Greens are rolling very well. Worth the money for sure.
Awesome course.
NMSU offers a challenging course. Plenty of trees to keep you honest off the team. Will definitely play this course again.
Spring Golf
Fairways are still dormant

Maintenance crews were hard at work making the course ready for Spring

Excellent for winter golf
NMSU golf course is in excellent winter (February) condition. The fairways are dormant ( brown) bermuda. A nice bonus were occasional tufts of green bent grass from which I chose to hit. The greens were bent ( poa annua) smoothe and mowed which rolled out nicely. Green contours were subtle. The tees and areas around greens were green bent grass.
Amenities ( pro shop, cart girl, restaurant) were excellent..
Slow start
The course was backed up for the first 3 or 4 holes but opened up. It was a really cool day but still great to get out and play.
Major disappointment
Expected more from a state university course.
Following a sixsome at noon midweek?
Disgusting drinking fountains?
A course marshall who does nothing to improve pace of play?

The course was good fairways have gone dormant but still played nicely. The staff was very friendly and the pace of play was great.
Great course to play
Great course to play. Wide fairways so even the beginner could play. Course was in pretty good condition. Greens were quick. Course play was slower so not to much pressure.
NMSU Golf Course
This course was in good condition this day. The layout is great with tree lined, wide fairways. The course is competitive but not too difficult or unfriendly.
Remember to ask course personnel for greens tips.
