Although it's only an hour from New York City, the Garrison's secluded location nestled in the Hudson Highlands makes it feel much further. Perched 800 feet above the Hudson River, the 18-hole Garrison golf course offers panoramic views of the river and the surrounding mountains. As beautiful as the rolling hills are, they provide a challenging topography that will keep you from being distracted by the scenery. The rolling greens are flanked with bunkers and water. In addition to the uphill, downhill, and side hill lies, you can expect a few tough carries over deep ravines and stands of mature oaks along the fairways. The elevation changes are especially dramatic on the front nine while the back nine is a bit more open and forgiving, but you'll still need accuracy throughout the entire golf course.

Very scenic view
I have always past this golf course but never had any interest to play. I am sorry it took so long to give this course a chance. It is one of my favorite course now
Garrison
considering all of the rain we have had this year, the course is in great shape.
I find this to be one of the most challenging course in this area.
Still so much fun!
Great Course
It seems every time I play here the course is always so wet. There were many clumps of wet grass on the fairways becuse they were just being cut at 12:30. I just hope I can make it out again once it’s actually dry and playable. Thhis review is No reflection on the grounds keeper or the staff.
Good golf course
This course layout is fantastic, but it looks like there’s some drainage problems, rained two days before our tee time and some of the grass was still wet, not sure if it was from that or he sprinkler system. None the less it plays very well! Greens aren’t that fast, but it is very difficult to read them!
Sept 7 first time experience
Played a 4.5 hr round, Friday, twosome, greens were aerated, slightly muddy due to recent rain, great experience overall, fun, nice views of the Hudson River and West Point. Certainly would recommend to others to play.
Slow greens
Slow greens, no soap or paper towels in clubhouse mens room. Course was soft from overnight rain.
Excellent condition
First time playing here. Course conditons were excelent. Greens, tough but in really good condition. Little breaks and nuances made them challenging.
Very friendly staff.
Great Shape
The Course is in good shape and the greens are fast. Pace of play was good, can’t wait to play it again.
Great Layout
I’ve played Garrison a few times, and the layout is very good. There is a nice variety of holes on the entire golf course. The front nine is much harder than the back nine. The front nine is tighter and more hilly. The back nine is a little more flatter and more wide. I have never seen a starter on the first tee, so it’s basically a free for all when you arrive at the course. The conditions of the course are usually pretty good. The greens aren’t lightning fast, the fairways are overall in good shape, and the bunkers, although a tad thin on sand, it’s actually sand and not dirt. It’s a very fun course and it’s one of my favorite to play.
Course and Greens in Great Condition
Compared to recent years, the course was in very good shape with greens in excellent condition. Great views of the Hudson from some of the elevated tees. Overall good value for money and staff was friendly. Threatening weather (but no rain) left the course open but also meant bar and snack area closed. There are some tight driving holes, but the course is fair. Could use better directional signage on several holes with divergent paths. If I hadn't played here before I would have been lost on some holes. Overall good experience.
Garrison Hilly with Great Views
Nice Public Coarse. Very Woodsy and Hilly. Some great views of the Hudson River. Some blind drives so make sure you go and look, so you can see where to drive the ball. Some holes you can hit the ball to the right and it will roll to the left and visa versa. I found the greens in great shape but not too fast. Ground can be hard in some fairways so make sure you choke up and clip the ball.
Loved it!
This course is challenging for men, but gives a good advantage to women for the ladies tees. Nice variety of holes.
Beautiful Day over looking the Hudson
Course was in good shape love the layout... Greens were slower then usual and a bit bumpy. The views of the Hudson are Beautiful.
Terrific layout
Very scenic course with a number of big breaking greens - mainly on the front nine. The back nine's greens are flatter, but that's compensated by the fact that some of the holes play longer than their noted distances
Needs TLC
This place has a huge catering business. Oh and apparently they also have a golf course that they spend a little time on too! Rough is not difficult or penal so much as an afterthought. Drainage is so poor that even during a dry spell, the rough especially is spongy. The 2nd green needs a stick of dynamite; so few hole locations. Other holes on front side should be tweaked. Such a beautiful setting but the regulars I know there admit that management and the staff seem to let things go. It really wouldn't take much to make this place work. However the owners are using it as a cash cow for their catering/wedding hall business.
Serious Challenge
This course will test your game. You must be long and straight. And then you get to the greens and they are tough to read. This is a must play for all masochists.
Beautiful views. Front 9 is all up and down. The back 9 is a little flatter, but then there is water in play on several holes.
