Although it's only an hour from New York City, the Garrison's secluded location nestled in the Hudson Highlands makes it feel much further. Perched 800 feet above the Hudson River, the 18-hole Garrison golf course offers panoramic views of the river and the surrounding mountains. As beautiful as the rolling hills are, they provide a challenging topography that will keep you from being distracted by the scenery. The rolling greens are flanked with bunkers and water. In addition to the uphill, downhill, and side hill lies, you can expect a few tough carries over deep ravines and stands of mature oaks along the fairways. The elevation changes are especially dramatic on the front nine while the back nine is a bit more open and forgiving, but you'll still need accuracy throughout the entire golf course.

Beautiful Views
Garrison is a hilly course. The views make the trip up there worth it. Some holes are challenging and some lack imagination. The front nine uses the landscape very well and the back nine seems more put together like pieces of a puzzle. That is not to say there aren't some nice holes on the back. The par 3's are beautiful. The greens could be misleading. I putted up near the hole and it stopped briefly, before making a 90 degree turn to the left and picked up speed and rolled right off the green. Length will help you on this course. It's a fun day out.
Fun
Garrison is a beautiful setting and an enjoyable routing. The conditions are a little rustic (manicured conditions are not important everywhere) but not bad. A little pricey for amenities and conditions but the golf and setting make up for it. Worth the drive for our group. Be careful as #1,2,3 greens severely slope right to left.
I'll be back...!
Great day of golf. Everything first-rate! I will return!
Beautiful scenic views at every turn
This was a nice challenging course with beautiful scenic views at every turn. Course had recently been aerated but in good condition otherwise. Great value ... Beautiful Views . Fun course to play . We will be back
Spectacular Views
Very nice course in a perfect Setting, right above the Hudson River and adjacent to West Point Military Academy. Holes are challenging, but always fair. Can't wait to return.
Sunday morn
Greens were in poor shape and inconsistent in speed.
Lovely course
Liked it so much, we played again. Back nine definitely easier than the front. Spectacular views of the Hudson River, across from West Point.
Dried out and hard as a rock
We usually love this course and its challenge. However today the course has suffered from the hot dry weather. Every shot, including the fairways and around the greens, felt like you were hitting off cement. NO one fixes their balls marks - come on people it's common courtesy. We will return - next year before the summer drought. People there could not be nicer and the views are spectacular.
Beautiful day
Love the lay out, great views of the Hudson on the back nine, where the course changes to links-style from tight park land. Greens in good condition-always amazed at how many people don't repair their ball marks.
Look fwd to going back soon.
Garrison
I always enjoy playing this course. Iti is a cut above the public courses in westchester and at a reasonable price.
Beautiful Vistas
I like this course. It is challenging and accuracy is needed. I thought the greens and fairways were in ok shape, I've played here when its been better but I still enjoy the course, and the views are terrific and the staff very friendly.
19th hole?
Everything about the round was good with the exception of the cafe/bar.
I was overcharged for a drink at the turn and extremely disappointed to find it closed at the end of my round...7:00 PM and was told by staff member that they close at 6. ???
Views, Views, and Views
Scenery and views were spectacular. But the course was tough - especially the front 9 - and signage was poor. We drove around aimlessly trying to find the 2nd Ladies Tee. The greens were very difficult especially because there were just aerated. From now on, we will ask about that because no one likes 3 putts when there could have been 2. We will return but after we play many more others out there.
Two different courses in one
The front nine is very tight with tree-lined Fairways. Distance and Power is not what you're looking for on the front. Accuracy is key. The Back 9 opens up and has many elevation changes on the entire course. Along with beautiful views of the Hudson River. Course conditions where in good to very good conditions, and the green were rolling true and quick. Except for the divots that no one repairs. It's definitely a very fun course to play and the next time I'm in the area I will definitely go back.
One of the best courses in the region - worth the trip!
I had a 2pm tee time, got there early and was told to go off any time I'm ready. I played alone and finished in 3 1/2 hours! The course is gorgeous, through the woods on the first 9, and like playing in Florida (except for the Hudson River Views) on the back 9.
Also, about 5 miles south is The Stadium restaurant, with one of the foremost sports memorabilia collections on the planet. Great for a 19th hole!
Great round
Garrison is a wonderful public course.
Challenging layout with lots of blind landing areas from the the tee box. Greens and bunkers are well kept.
The signature 2nd hole view from the tee is unforgettable.
Best view
This course is much Tougher on the front nine some very fast and fun greens and some beautiful view of the Hudson River and West Point
Do Yourself a Favor
Have played here man, many times. Good conditions and challenging golf course. Accuracy, not power, is key. Small but receptive greens. But.....do yourself a favor!! Take an extra few seconds and get a good read on the greens. If you aren't a regular who knows the greens, three putts could be a common theme for the round. All in all, a very good course.
