Although it's only an hour from New York City, the Garrison's secluded location nestled in the Hudson Highlands makes it feel much further. Perched 800 feet above the Hudson River, the 18-hole Garrison golf course offers panoramic views of the river and the surrounding mountains. As beautiful as the rolling hills are, they provide a challenging topography that will keep you from being distracted by the scenery. The rolling greens are flanked with bunkers and water. In addition to the uphill, downhill, and side hill lies, you can expect a few tough carries over deep ravines and stands of mature oaks along the fairways. The elevation changes are especially dramatic on the front nine while the back nine is a bit more open and forgiving, but you'll still need accuracy throughout the entire golf course.

Greens in summer shape
Solid spring round at Garrison last Sunday. My only complaint is that they were running 40 minutes behind on the tee sheet. According to some regulars who were hanging around the pro shop that morning this is a somewhat common occurrence.
Course was in great shape. Greens particularly. Rolling fast and true.
Scenic track with a tighter front nine and more open back. Would recommend for course conditions and views of the Hudson.
it's all about the views
hadn't been here in 30 years. as spectacular scenic views as anywhere. interesting but tight course; front nine carved into side of hill, back nine sits on top of hill. length not that important but accuracy is mandatory. some greens have putts that break 90 degrees or return to your feet if you don't carry the ridge. you would need to play it often to score well but it is an experience that you should do at least once.
Ranger Needed
Course is great, biggest draw back is pace of play! They need a starter to group the 2's to 4's and a ranger to move the pace along.
Actually 4 2's backed up on 5th hole and never got better.
I had the same problem last year and jumped around course to get 18 in.
Beautiful Views and a Great Round
What an outstanding course. I've never played it before this weekend and I will most certainly be going back. The course itself was immaculately kept, greens were terrific. The views were second to none. The view from the tops of some of those tee boxes were just unreal. I'd highly suggest playing here if you have the time. No wait, no fuss, and a very satisfying day.
Fun Day
Course was in very good shape for early in the season, greens were faster than they looked. I am a 15 handicap and shot 102. not an easy day :(
Garrison Golf Course
It is the most spectacular course in the Hudson Valley, New York. It has beautiful views of the Hudson River surrounded by mountains. A great view of US Military Academy, West Point from tbe 11th hole fairway. I play there regularly and tbe course now is best and getting better with the renovations taking place. The layout is awesome and the course challenging. Green fees reasonable. Enjoy!
Autumn conditions
Played in mid November , just about 50 degrees and sunny. I was impressed how the grounds crew cleared the course from leaves. The greens were quick but pretty consistent through out the course. And the views on this course are beautiful.
beautiful views of west point
wow doesnt get much better then this got a great deal thru golf now 45 bucks teed off 15 mins early
Great value with nice views - good for all handicaps
First time playing this course and it is very nice - good conditions, nice pace of play and reasonably challenging. The back 9 plays a bit harder than the front with smaller, well guarded greens and longer par 3s. There are some narrow fairways and a few with chutes to drive but opens up. Hole 17 par 3 (188 yd from white tee box) was probably the most difficult hole with a small green.
Nice setting and views made for very nice round of golf. A better value than some other nearby courses.
fall golf
went to see fall colors was disappointed as still a week away from peak, but the weather and condition of the course made up for it.
great day
greens and fairways in good shape.even thou no rain in weeks
Outstanding views
Some of the most outstanding views you can find on a golf course In the Hudson valley area....the course itself is in very good shape....greens can be pretty tricky but roll very true....will be back again
The garrison
Really nice 18 hole course. Nice long holes with wide fairways. The course has a really nice ambience to it with little bridges and stone houses found near tees and other areas. Beautiful course.
Good value
Somewhat challenging especially the first nine. Great views over the Hudson River. The fairways and especially the tee ground definitely need some work. Same can be said about the cart paths and parking lot.
Good course for the money
The course was in good shape with the exception of some fairway burnout. The greens were good but a little slow. Overall I would say the course was a 7 out of 10. Some fairways were Slanted and some narrow which made the course challenging but fair. Some elevation changes and blind shots added to that challenge.
Nice course with great views of Hudson.
Course is always a challenge for me. You need to be straight with drives. This round was particularly slow, having to wait on every hole. Most greens good, but a few with some winter damage.
Great views of the Hudson
Course was in very good condition. The pace of play was extremely slow. Wish there was a ranger to speed players along.
The food and beer were very good.
Nice course
Beautiful course, well maintained, great views of the Hudson River, would definitely play again.
Great day at Garrison
Garrison is a beautiful venue in great condition. It is a long course and presents enough challenges for the experienced golfer. My only complaint is that the directions should include the notation that although the address is Route 9 that the entrance is on Snake Hill Road. Apparently a lot of guests have trouble with the GPS finding them due to this lack of information.
Course with a great view
My first time playing this course. I had heard the views from the course were beautiful and they are. The course it's self could use some work. The tee boxes and cart paths are pretty beat up. The fairways are in good condition as are the greens. The greens run a little slower than the practice green and break less than you expect. The sand traps were a little thin but playable. The staff we encountered were all very friendly and helpful. Overall we had a good time. I would recommend your first time playing here play with someone who has played here before. Otherwise you are going to loose a few balls.
