Although it's only an hour from New York City, the Garrison's secluded location nestled in the Hudson Highlands makes it feel much further. Perched 800 feet above the Hudson River, the 18-hole Garrison golf course offers panoramic views of the river and the surrounding mountains. As beautiful as the rolling hills are, they provide a challenging topography that will keep you from being distracted by the scenery. The rolling greens are flanked with bunkers and water. In addition to the uphill, downhill, and side hill lies, you can expect a few tough carries over deep ravines and stands of mature oaks along the fairways. The elevation changes are especially dramatic on the front nine while the back nine is a bit more open and forgiving, but you'll still need accuracy throughout the entire golf course.

Great Hole Definition on Front Nine
The perfect weather served to enhance the spectacular beauty of the course with the Hudson River and surrounding mountains in the background. The front nine was heavily wooded, necessitating keeping your ball in the fairway. If you went off the fairway by more than 10 yards you generally lost a ball. Plan on bringing an ample supply. About 2/3 of the front nine were totally isolated holes. The back nine was quite open and as long as you kept your ball out of the water, you were fine. Overall the conditions were good, but if the speed of the greens had been faster, I would have rated the conditions excellent. It was a thoroughly enjoyable golf experience and I highly recommend it.
Amazing course
Only negative was the two some ahead of us. Range finding putts and hit two balls each. Other than that an amazing day of golf
One of the better courses near Westchester
This is a great course with breathtaking views . It is very challenging and that's what keeps me coming back. Cart is a must. The pace of play can be slow during the afternoons but I have always enjoyed playing this course.
Great round.
We had a wonderful time on the course. Very challenging for us on a few holes. We did donate a few balls. Many holes are not forgiving of slices or pulls. Accuracy is a must. The views on this course made up for any errant shots. They are spectacular. We really enjoyed our round and we plan on going back next week. Thanks, Hernando Acuna
great views
Great views on a moderately challenging course. Will play here again.
Besutiful
Absolutely my favorite course in the Hudson valley. Spectacular views. Some Challenging holes but playable for almost anyone
Challenge
Excellent course.
Best views in the Hudson Valley hands down. A hidden gem.
Course manager are very rude and no customer service skills
Our group of foursome took a chance and teed off hoping that a projected t-storm will pass through quick. As we are approaching the green complex we heard rumbling and the manager called us back. that's all good. safety first. That's expected. The manager told us he will give us a rain check or we can re-book for next week which we did. A week later during check-n the front desk clerk required us to pay $25 each according to her the price had change. I requested to speak to the manager with confidence that he would remember what he told us a week ago. He came out and stare at me like I'm a nuisance. He looked at me with a blank stare and no emotion he suddenly forgot everything he told me a week ago. He said " if you want to play today you must pay the current rate!" I was in disbelief . I had played the course many times, the course is very challenging, lots of blind spot but fair except if your ball goes in the rough you will most likely lost it, it is what it is. I love the scenery, the employees were all very nice and helpful. I still have scores to settle there but it will be hard for me to come back. That was the last time I played the course. It's a shame that a decision made by one person who probably have no idea about customer service will ruin it for me. I tell this story to everyone who ask me about Garrison Golf Course, but again it's not the course.
Nice Find
Nice course. Starter let us out early on a Sunday afternoon. Didn't run into anyone until the last few holes. The course is in good condition, some spots were beginning to get burned out but nothing too much. Not sure if I would pay full price but well worth the discount if you can find it. Will be back
Awful pace of play
I've played this course a number of times and it's been decent to great on each occasion, but the other day was horrendous. 3 hour front 9 because they packed in tee times and not a single ranger on the course to help speed things along. Staff was absolute bare bones on one of the busiest days of the year. I'd only recommend going here if you don't anticipate it being a busy day.
great views
Fairly challenging course, beautiful views, course in good condition, multiple blind holes. Fun to play.
Very nice course
The greens were great compared to some of the local courses. And the view of the Hudson fantastic. Fairways were good also. Will definitely play there again.
Great pace of play at 3pm.
Well worth $27!! Course in decent shape. Goodnpace of play for a 3pm start. Stadf very friendly.
Not on the Level
Rough was deep, lost and found balls a few feet off the fairway. Greens were fast and sloped in all directions. Some fairways are tight, and the par threes are challenging especially the back nine. Could use more directional aids to get around course.
needs attention
the layout is great but the course needs a lot of attention. The surface of the road near the clubhouse is terrible(lots of holes). the rough on the fairways needs to be cut, if you hit a ball a little off the fairway it's hard to find. there are other courses in the area that are much better.
Excellent value for money
Staff friendliness is excellent, great view of Hudson River on the back nine, pace of play very comfortable, never rushed.
Great time!!
Tee off @ 8:40 and pace of play was good. Didn't wait really at all between holes. Course was in great shape and we had perfect weather. Would recommend this course. Front nine is tight and tough but the back opens up and eases out. A lot of fun!!
Great tract
A tale of two nines...the front is majestic with large heavily undulating greens....careful attention needs to paid to the overall terrain as it relates to the greens... The back shorter tighter with smaller well protected greens....one of the best public tracts in the tristate area
