Although it's only an hour from New York City, the Garrison's secluded location nestled in the Hudson Highlands makes it feel much further. Perched 800 feet above the Hudson River, the 18-hole Garrison golf course offers panoramic views of the river and the surrounding mountains. As beautiful as the rolling hills are, they provide a challenging topography that will keep you from being distracted by the scenery. The rolling greens are flanked with bunkers and water. In addition to the uphill, downhill, and side hill lies, you can expect a few tough carries over deep ravines and stands of mature oaks along the fairways. The elevation changes are especially dramatic on the front nine while the back nine is a bit more open and forgiving, but you'll still need accuracy throughout the entire golf course.

Excellent views and a challenging course
Staffed paired us with another couple which made it even more enjoyable. A few challenging holes for first time players, but overall a terrific course and great price!
Great Day for Golf
We got to the course at 6:30 and our time was for 7:10. But the club house let us out as soon as we were ready to go. Everyone was courteous and friendly. The weather was sunny and cool and there was hardly anyone playing so we were able to play at our pace and got through 18 in a little over 3 hours.
We will be back!
Marvelous views
I always enjoy playing at Garrison. The course is challenging but fair. The greens are in pretty good condition. Everyone plays at a pretty good pace.
The staff I encountered were corteous and friendly. The views especially from the back 9 are spectacular. I will definitely be playing here again.
Beautiful scenery
BeautLove this course- it is challenging and absolutely beautiful.
Unfortunately, for me, it has gotten very popular and play is very slow at times.
Will be back.
Long/challenging par 3's
best with local knowledge but one time has to be the first! Putts turn three times more than you anticipate.
Nice course but pace of play too slow
Overall had a good experience here. Golf course was in good shape and was challenging but pace of play was way too slow.
Find your way at Garrison
Garrison is a beautiful and fairly difficult course. Many of the holes you are hitting blind. There were no easily visible markers and no directions. Carts did not have electronics to guide you.
Very difficult to play unless you know the course.
Great Value; Just a Beautiful Setting
Compared to other courses in the region Garrison is a real gem and great value for money. The front nine is considerably more challenging than the back and while not totally forgiving, it's a good course for middle and high handicappers. The course itself was in excellent shape and I would recommend it to anyone. We played the front nine in 1:40 but ... One complaint ... there was no ranger or course manager in site when a foursome jumped in front of my twosome at the turn. The group played form the blues, and they really really should not have and never acknowledged a request to play through ... the back nine took more than 2:30 to play with us waiting on every hole and every fairway ... still too nice a day to spoil the round ... but please guys manage the course better ...
Garrison Golf Course
The round of golf was great. The course was in great shape. there was a mixup in starter times but the Starter was great and had it under control. The staff needs to b e bit more friendly and smile. The women who cheked us in and the guy in the food area need to be a bit more friendly..
Horrible tee time spacing
Took over 5 hours for our 3 some to finish, was constantly watching the group in front of me wait on the tee box for the group in front of them to get off the green… tee time spacing was horrible, never even saw a starter… not much exciting about this course that should make their prices so high either…
Always a challenge
I play this course all the time, especially the $25 at 5PM special they run. Its always well maintained, but sometimes the lack of staff/rangers can make things frustrating (when people take way too long and dont play ready golf, can really hold things up as you'd expect) but the course is alwasy in pretty great shape. The course is fairly difficult, a lot of shots require you to hit it on the fairway otherwise you'll lose it in the rough or the trees. The greens are very difficult, no easy read. I love the value you get on this course, and if it wasnt for a couple holes with ridiculous greens that dont hold the ball (especially green 2), I'd love it. They have done a good job repairing the spots, and teeboxes, that needed repairing. Just wish they would close and fix the second green so that when you put, it doesnt roll all the way off the green almost every time. even with that, i still love playing 15 or so holes at 5PM whenever I can. The back 9 is absolutely stunning, especially the 10th hole around sunset time (usually when you start around 5PM, by the time you get to the 10th hole, the sun is setting over the hudson ridge and it makes for a great hole and teebox.
Great view.
The course was great to play. We played 18 holes. I recommend riding because it is spread out. The women tees are often many, many yards ahead of the men's. Being a women I enjoyed all the advantages. Best golf game for me so far this season. I will definetly go back again soon.
Terrible
An awful experience. No starter, no rangers, pace of play was horrific. Had to skip three holes because of standard of players in front were awful and no ranger to hurry them along. Please take my advice and never ever play this course at the weekend. Save your money and play where a course has rangers and even a starter so you can enjoy your round. Wanted to finish after 9 holes, but we struggled on.
Course in need of repair
Maintenance needs to be improved to return this course to the 5-star course it should be.
wonderful
Excellent course; fantastic views of the Hudson, West Point. Challenging holes and layout. Greens could be faster.
Great Rate/Course
The course was in great condition and we lucked out with the pace. Overall great day!
Beautiful vista, good condition.
The cart paths and signage needs upscaling. There are no 150 yard marker poles, which would be helpful. The pro shop rest rooms are old and tired looking and need a total upgrade. The course itself was fun to play with a nice layout and beautiful views of the Hudson river.
Nice all around course
Pros- Nice staff, very laid back, beautiful views, challenging ( Pick your shots and clubs carefully),
Cons- greens were in okay condition.
Garrison golf club
The course is pretty challenging, even for low handicappers. The front side is extremely hilly and narrow. Greens are somewhat hard and were not in great shape the day we played them. What makes this course unique are the great views of the Hudson River and West Point. I play this course about once a year and it's enough for me.
Not for old men
We played 18 holes from the white tees. It is a rough course for older people. Seniors should stick to 9 holes. At the end of 18 holes both my partner and I were worn out.
