Although it's only an hour from New York City, the Garrison's secluded location nestled in the Hudson Highlands makes it feel much further. Perched 800 feet above the Hudson River, the 18-hole Garrison golf course offers panoramic views of the river and the surrounding mountains. As beautiful as the rolling hills are, they provide a challenging topography that will keep you from being distracted by the scenery. The rolling greens are flanked with bunkers and water. In addition to the uphill, downhill, and side hill lies, you can expect a few tough carries over deep ravines and stands of mature oaks along the fairways. The elevation changes are especially dramatic on the front nine while the back nine is a bit more open and forgiving, but you'll still need accuracy throughout the entire golf course.

great
enjoyed the course very much with views of Hudson river and west point
Just tuff
Very difficult course use up tees or you will suffer all day
Some excellent holes that are challenging
Staff was super friendly and courteous, the starter was superb, he let us out earlier than our tee time and asked several times if we were ok and ready to start.
Nice course overall.
The first two greens need attention and a few tee boxes were wash boarded and need leveling. Other than that, it was a nice course and the staff was friendly. I will play again during my visit.
A great, fast round
We had 7:00am tee off time. We actually got off about 6:45. Just the two of us with a twosome in front of us and a foursome behind us. After the second hole we never saw anyone in front of us or behind us. Fast, perfectly paced round. The course was in good shape and the views are pretty nice, especially of West Point on the 10th hole. The staff was certainly friendly and the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich I had at the turn was fantastic!! All in all a great experience. I had never been finished with a round as early as I was on this day. We finished up at 10:35 and had most of the day still ahead of us. $80 is a little on the high end for me but was well worth it on this occasion.
Challenging Course With Unbelievable Scenery
Been wanting to play this course and finally did. It's a challenge as the front 9 besides the 1st hole plays pretty tight. The views of the Hudson river and West Point really made this a great experience. Lunch in the outside café afterwards topped off a great day,
Incredibly overbooked. Impossible to develop a rhythm.
Pace of play needs to be improved. A starter can easily remedy the problem. That is unless management wants the course overbooked then decides to turn a blind eye. Hope that's not the case.
Great views of the Hudson river, scenic
A challenging course, making you learn your clubs distance and helping you to improve your approach to the greens
beautiful views
Course is maintained and managed well. Greens are in great shape and no fairway burning. Beautiful views of west point and hudson river
Very Hard first nine... Great challenge
One of the nicest in the area. Always in great condition. views of the Hudson River and West Point... Priceless.
Average
This is an OK course. If you're going for the views don't bother-- first hole has a nice view of west point and the hudson but it goes down hill (literally and figuratively) from there.
Some greens needed attention. Hole placements were questionable. On certain greens there were big brown dirt patches on the part where the hole was placed, and pristine, untouched grass on the 75% of the green where the hole wasn't.
The first time I played here, I was a twosome stuck behind a young family with a jerk father who would not let us pass even though he would have better enjoyed his round without a group rushing him from behind.
The second time playing here i was part of a threesome stuck behind a twosome, who were stuck behind another twosome, who were stuck behind another twosome. Doesn't make much sense. Where's the ranger when u need him!?
Garrison offers great deals via golfnow, but the course doesn't warrant a visit for any greater price.
BTW, golfers who have a left-to-right ball flight will have a difficult time with this course. Im a lefty with a natural draw and let's just say it was a long day. Course was definitely designed with the righty player in mind.
Tee'd off 15 minutes later than scheduled time - The "pro" was his usual dismissive self and overall horrible experience
The guys there let a 4 some play in front of us - beginner golfers that were drinking on the first tee box and had no clue about etiquette, pace of play or anything golf-related for that matter. It took us 6 hours to finish. 1/2 of the greens were in horrible shape.
Well maintained - very friendly
My home course play here very often - 1st place I go when get out during the week after work - great shape - some holes challenge all - 16th hole the favorite for chance to birdie for a novice -
Tough course w/ great views
Wonderful views and a quick pace of play. Get there early and you'll have the course to yourself.
Parts of course in great shape, some greens had several dead spots and ball marks. 80% of fairways in excellent condition. Very friendly staff.
When we arrived at the course, someone was waiting to put our bags on the golf cart. We were on the first hole hitting our drives within 3 minutes. 80% of fairways in excellent condition, some holes had burnt grass patches throughout Fairway. Greens were running at a consistent fast pace. Several greens had dead spots near the front and there were frequent ball marks. Overall pace was great, under a four hour round. Great service and I would recommend this course to a bogey golfer or better. Holes that are at the top of hillside have great views of the Hudson and West Point.
Course is in good condition and wasn't backed up.
Course is good for average players and has a couple of tricky holes with narrow furways and a couple of difficult holes with water and bunker hazards.
Nice views
Very slow, no Marshall to monitor pace. Front 9 is almost all blind shots Did not enjoy the course but the value was great
Some beautiful views
The course itself did not live up to its description. The tees on the front side had areas without grass. The greens were ok but had some bad patches. The fairways were descent, but much of the rough was mowed weeds, not grass. I guess for the price ($50), we expected more.
