Although it's only an hour from New York City, the Garrison's secluded location nestled in the Hudson Highlands makes it feel much further. Perched 800 feet above the Hudson River, the 18-hole Garrison golf course offers panoramic views of the river and the surrounding mountains. As beautiful as the rolling hills are, they provide a challenging topography that will keep you from being distracted by the scenery. The rolling greens are flanked with bunkers and water. In addition to the uphill, downhill, and side hill lies, you can expect a few tough carries over deep ravines and stands of mature oaks along the fairways. The elevation changes are especially dramatic on the front nine while the back nine is a bit more open and forgiving, but you'll still need accuracy throughout the entire golf course.

A very well designed and maintained course! Some challenging holes, with great landscaping surrounding them.
This was my first time playing this course, even though I have lived 5 miles away from it for 24 years. I will definitely be playing here more often, switching from my go-to course of Putnam Golf Club.
For a public course, it has service comparable to a private course with a reasonable green fee. The course was in great condition, and played true to the rating. A great course for an intermediate to seasoned golfer, I would not recommend this course to a beginner. The holes with water surrounding them are very challenging and can be a great complication for new golfers.
All in all, Garrison is a great course for the money!
Precise players
This course was difficult and caters to precise players as there were a couple of multi-tiered holes.
Disorganized and poorly managed
No starter and rangers to monitor golfers. You just go up to the first tee and tee off when you think it's your tee time. Groups are sent out with no course management. We had a foursome tee off ahead of us, followed by a twosome who was given our tee time and then us, a threesome.
Tough Track
Garrison is not for the weak! Played here on an afternoon hot deal. Great deal, though! The front nine are narrow and require precise tee shots. Not too forgiving. The back nine, are more forgiving. More open fairways but still tough holes. Tons of elevation changes throughout the course. Tons of blind tee shots too. Course definitely kicked my butt! But I'll be back! Definitely a must play!
Picturesque with horendous condions
Course views are picturesque. Layout is adequate. However, conditions are horrific. This is not a course that has suffered poor weather conditions this season. This is years of neglect. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens are in terrible shape. Very disappointed and certainly not worth the $80 I spent. Don't think it's even worth $25. There are absolutely no signs of correcting the current condition either. Stay away
Wonderful course
Playing with friends and want to eat and drink after, this is the place to be, not to mention the course is in good condition and will bring out the best out of your. Game.
Enjoyable time!
Garrison is a very scenic course that offers many challenges to the average player. Immaculate greens are a definite plus to this course.
One of my favorite holes is the 2nd hole. It starts with a very picturesque tee shot high atop a hill that frames the fairway very nicely. From there, you must hit a lengthy 2nd shot for a layup or a super 2nd shot to make the green (go for the layup). Finally, you have a testy up and down for a one put to make par or a challenging two put for a par. Making par here is like a birdie.
I will say that it is a well maintained course that will have you both smiling and grimacing every other hole. If you can nail your tee shot, then you have many more chances to par the holes (as I did the last four holes).
An enjoyable time and great outing!

Garrison Golf Club
Very pretty course with breathtaking views, although I wish it was maintained better. The course was very challenging with tight fairways and some doglegs. Not too long from the whites so it was a very fair and manageable course.
Regarding maintenance, parts of the course were torn up and it appeared that no one replaced or sanded their divots. I blame the course as there wasn't sand on the cart to fill them in. The greens were also very soft which led to a ton of divots on the green which no one fixed.
Overall - Great deal for the twilight ($30) and we finished with plenty of daylight left. I wish they would keep the course in better shape and this would be the top course in the Hudson Valley.
course is in horrible shape. if it wasnt for the 25 dollar golfnow price i would never play there.
Waste of money. Plenty of nicer cheaper places in area.
Second round!
Food was great! And the second round is always better, looking forward to the next one.
Great views and scenery
Could not beat the golf now price to play this course. Great layout with challenging holes.
Beautiful views.. NO AMENITIES
It was 100 degrees... No water to be found until the 8th hole.. No cart selling liquids anywhere for he 5 hour round... Way too slow.
Bag boys super friendly.. Pro shop guy.. Not so much.
Happy I didn't pay full price! Most beautiful views.
Will not be back this season, as this was my second round there..Same result.
Great Views
If your looking for great views , this is your course. I would say at least 5 holes give you a view if West Point. Others of the Hudson River. couple of par 3's over water ect. We played 1 day after a week of heavy rain and the drainage was great. We were able to ride 90 deg. on every fairway.Difficult for the average golfer(130 slope). But take a little higher score and enjoy the views. Worth every penny of the $40.00 rate.
Tight layout, with beautiful vistas and views. Staff was cordial.
Great views of the Hudson. Interesting greens. A little tight with some unusual lies due to uneven terrain.
This is a beautiful course.
The course is challenging with a great layout. The views of the Hudson River are stellar. The greens have interesting slopes and you need to have good skills off the tee to get in position. The holes are well guarded with traps when you are a bit off line and there are some tough holes up hill. I am a walker of anything but this course requires a cart; some of the holes are very far from green to the next tee. The staff was super friendly and the bar rerstaurant was great!
Beautiful
This course is so beautiful. The view of the Hudson river and West Point make this course one of the top courses I've golfed. Simply outstanding.
great course. play here all the time
the pace of play was absolutely ridiculous. front 9 in 3 hrs and back 9 in 2.5 hours.
Slow play
5 hours and 45 minutes to play, no ranger took forever, I guess it's good if you're going to spend the whole day there. The scorecard says pace of play 4:30 hours, I guess someone missed it.
good for intermediate and advanced players.
tee boxes need lots of work, easily the negative of the course. easy to lose balls so watch your shots all the way. hopefully the greens will become smoother as the season goes.
if you can, the course allows you to try shaping your shots.
