Putnam County Golf Course
About
Nestled in the Lower Hudson Valley, Putnam County Golf Course enjoys a scenic location amid rolling hills yet it’s not too far from the city. Formerly known as Putnam National, the club was originally opened as a private club in 1959, it opened to the public when it was bought by the county in 2004 but it continues to offer the quality and amenities of a private country club. The golf course has front and back nines that are completely different from one another so be prepared to use all the clubs in your bag. Water hazards only come into play on two holes but don’t let that fool you, this course is formidable even for avid golfers. Putnam County Golf Course's final four holes are an especially challenging stretch that will test you with everything from uphill lies to a slew of strategically placed bunkers.

Great day overall
9 handicapper. Played with 3 other seasoned golfers. Overall conditions were tremendous considering The time of year and recent testy weather conditions.
For a muni it was very nice. Also I just found out today that this used to be a private club up until the seventies.
Nice layout. Tees , fairways and greens all in great shape.
Congratulations to the GM and grounds crews.
Can’t wait to play in some warmer weather conditions.
Nice Find
Played for first time..due to Covid-19, no pro shop or dining available, so couldn't review. Great condition for springtime, tremendous greens. Lots of elevation and variety of holes. I will be back
Will be Back for sure.
Fun tea k. Great layout. Awesome greens. Looking forward to playing it when things get back to normal and it’s fully opened.
Avoiding the virus
Overall it was a good round. The course is following all the precautions for the COVID-19 virus that's impacting our world. I didn't have to touch anything. Paid before hand, got my receipt from the printer that stood about 10 feet from the guy behind the glass. Only 1 unrelated person per cart. I walked. Just me and my friend. Course was in good shape. Greens rolled fast, like they always do here. Probably the most difficult part is the speedy greens. I'd definitely recommend playing here at least once. I think this was my third trip.
Putnam National
This is a good course for everyone. It has some very challenging holes and some easy ones. It requires different clubs to be used and has different looks from different tees. Staff is very friendly.
Slowwwwwwww
Every time slot is available on golf now , we show up 1245 time slot 20-24 guys there telling starter who ho out.. not starters fault .. started at 1245 didn’t finish round because of darkness.. F-in joke
Ajb
I really like this course. From both the white and blue tees it is a great challenge. Greens are usually very good. Traps need a little work. The pace of play and the quality of golf is not so hot.
Pretty Good
Only course I’ve been to where you can’t bring a small cooler or anything on course for drinking or eating
Pretty bad when no one is on course selling anything
They tell you it’s because of catering but it’s hot out there and some people don’t eat junk
Otherwise Staff were Great but that’s not their fault that management wants to make money on petty things
One of the best courses around
Course is in fantastic shape. The people here are always friendly. The carts are brand new with gps. Difficult course with tricky greens but a wonderful experience.
Solid course, but....
I’m a fan of this course, but STAY AWAY after it rains. The course turns into an all out swamp after it rains. Aside from that, the staff is cool and the course layout is good. Pace can occasionally be slow just depends on who you get stuck behind.
