Regulation Eighteen at Smithtown Landing Golf Club

About
Smithtown Landing Golf Club offers both an 18-hole regulation course and a nine-hole executive course. The courses are open to the public on weekdays and to Smithtown residents on the weekends. The Regulation Course has a surprisingly tough layout with subtle but tricky contours throughout that cause some challenging lies. Mature trees line the fairways, making accuracy a necessity and there are also several strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. At 6,114 yards from the back tees, it's a golf course that requires strategy over length, beginning with the first hole. This dogleg right par 4 will force you to carefully think about the placement off the tee. In addition to the two golf courses, Smithtown Landing also has two practice greens with surrounding short game areas and a driving range.

A fun round of golf
Try to get here as many times as possible during the golf season. Also, they are making vast improvements throughout the course.
Very nice course
First time here, liked it a lot. Will come back again soon.
Great course
Course was in great shape tee to green and pace of play was not too bad for a Friday afternoon. Some fringe areas and some greens had some weeds; some other areas were bald with hard ground. Otherwise great. Facilities have been upgraded and very nice. Great food and drink options. Pleasure to play here.
Always fun
For the average golfer, it is a very good and challenging course.
Smithtown Landing Golf Course has a great layout
The course layout is one of my favorites on Long Island. All 18 holes differ from one another where you have hills, dog legs left & right and elevated tees and greens. Loved playing this course when I was growing up and still do today. Even saw deer grazing during the round. Mike Hebron, the Director of golf for the last 40+ years knows his stuff to ensure golfers enjoy the day on the course.
Course not in good condition
There should not be crab grass in the middle of greens. And just off the greens there are dirt spots and crab grass as well.
Terribly maintained
Paid $73 midday on a weekday only to find out that pretty much every green is riddled with crab grass. The fringe is nonexistent as that is just crab grass.
Sand traps are basically loose dirt surrounded by crab grass.
Hole 18’s tee box is under construction, no mention of that when we checked in.
They hold the cart keys under lock-n-key until your whole group is there, meaning you can’t drive your cart to your car , which is a decent walk away.
Burnt weeds
Course was dry, poorly kept with crabgrass growing everywhere. Dead spots all over. Will not play again this year.
This course has gone downhill
Edges of the green worst I’ve ever seen. Either no grass, or thick crabgrass. Even the greens had crabgrass.
5 hour round on a weekday, waited on every tee box.
No water jugs on a 90 degree day.
We used to love this course because it has such an interesting layout, but it has really gone downhill.
Will not be returning or recommending it.
Slow and Late
Went off later than the appointed time and it was really slow. Apparently no one enforces slow play as there were very long gaps of people coming up 18.
Tons of crabgrass everywhere. Fringe wasn't puttable with crabgrass. Played 9 holes 3hrs asked if I could play front again because nobody was there they said no very rude. I was a single player with foursome in front and back
Slow Play
If you don’t mind playing 5 hour rounds then this is the course for you . The course was in very good shape for both the fairways and the greens . The staff is very friendly and accommodating . But to have to wait on every shot is very frustrating. It’s either they are not spacing out the tee times far enough or is it the layout of the course that causes all the back ups . I saw today 3 groups waiting to tee off on the par 5 - fourth hole . Thats ridiculous.
