Could Be a Staten Island Gem
As a native SI'er, played on Saturday - enjoyed it - finished it in 4 hours Greens are in good shape but the traps and fairways need work.
Could be a Gem
Played on a Saturday and finished in 4 hours. The greens were in nice shape but, the fairways and traps could use a little work. It’s a beautiful course that could be exceptional with a little effort.
Terrible
Unless you want to waste your money I would not play here. Do yourself a favor and drive 20 minutes to jersey and play a course 10x better for the same price. I’m just lucky I got out in the morning to avoid paying 68 DOLLARS to play a course that literally has sand traps with grass growing all in it and people walking the course liek it’s their neighborhood park. Will not return.
Rough Conditions
American Golf has apparently abandoned any maintenance on the course other than the greens were for the most part were extremely playable. Fairways are sparse and rock hard, bunkers are nothing more than curt patches overgrown with weeds, totally unplayable. For the $39 I paid with cart and it was local, it’s just ok, but I can’t recommend right now and will not return until next year.
Too slow, 6hr round
Unfortunately it was a very slow round, in addition the fairways and greens are not in very good condition. I guess due to Covid the course has cut back on maintenance.
Terrible Conditions
I’ve never written a review before, but I felt it necessary after today’s round. This course has been completed neglected. Tee boxes have been played down to sand with little to no grass, to the point where footing is loose below. Fairways are completely burnt out with very little distinction between them and the rough. Green-side bunkers are not cared for and the greens themselves are sandy and very burnt out, aeration aside. Myself and buddies, all avid golfers, were left angered after paying $75+ to play this course. I hate to leave such a poor review, but hopeful that this helps others to steer clear.
What a joke
This course is awful parking lot is like a dirt road. Me and my friend and the gentleman we played with parked in what we thought was a spot and they left nasty notes on the windshield of our cars telling us to use our heads when there was nothing painted on the ground. They said it was a maintenance entrance which is also a joke. The course looks like hasn’t been maintained all year aside from a lawnmower. We had to look out for a guy with a motorcycle trying to jump the mound near the dirt trench they call a bunker on the second hole it was like moto cross on the golf course. The bunkers were horrible grass and weeds in almost every one. There were random people walking around the course out for their Sunday stroll. If that isn’t enough when we were leaving there were people walking there dogs on the fairway letting there dogs take a dump. The icing on the cake is they have audacity to charge $75.50 to play here on a Sunday. I would never go back there ever again. And I wouldn’t recommend you go there either. I told my buddy take a picture because you’ll never comes back to see this place again.
Course has potential, but it’s obvious they put no money into the operation. The starter did manage tee off times as they were 20 minutes behind, not a Ranger to be scene. The Tee boxes were awful as there was no grass, the fairways were bare and the greens were bumpy and not cut for weekend play. The sand traps had no sand and looked like the bottom of an empty pond. On top of all this we waited on every hole on the tee and in the fairway. It’s really too bad because this could be a decent place to play if the owner or city put some money into it.
Slow and crowded
They allow too many golfers. Tee times aren’t properly spaced out. No rangers to keep things moving. No cart person to offer drinks and clubhouse was locked at the turn for refreshments. Overall a poor experience for the money.
Course needs work
Greens improving. Fairways need alot of work
Traps are disgusting., don’t land in one
Hopefully in a month it will be much better if they keep working on it
