This course is too wide and longer fairway
i love to golf here, lots of space, good fairway ground terrain, and good for novice golf player
Not worth your time or money
The tee boxes were in terrible shape mostly dirt. The greens were being aerated which is fine but they did not tell you that in advance. Because they are aerating the front nine you could only play the back nine twice. I booked 18 holes not to play nine holes twice.
there is no nine hole rate. Staff is fine.
This course is in the worse shape of any course on Staten Island
This course looks like crap it’s as if they have not taken care of it all season the bunkers were loaded with leaves and branches. The tee boxes were dead grass and sand the fairways were mostly crabgrass if this is a sample of the mayor and governors idefunding I pity the residents that live there. I wouldn’t recommend this course to anyone
Could be good, completely unkept
I think La Tourette has unfortunately been hit by the pandemic and the course shows- no grass on the tee boxes, poor greens, grass in the bunkers throughout etc etc.
Hopefully the course will pick up as the layout could make it a great track, but never in the condition it’s in currently.
All things considered
Was my favorite course of all the Borough munies. American golf the course manager is bankrupt so conditions of fairways d greens is pretty abysmal.
Still a great layout and managed a 77 and 4 birdies. They advertised they will aerate the greens but don’t see how that will fix anything. Reduced price with cart makes sense.
They let covid ruin what was a pretty good course.
SILVER LAKE IS THE ONLY GOOD PLACE TO PLAY IN STATEN ISLAND. I wouldn't even call this a golf course. It's like someone just put holes in their backyard after hurricane sandy. This course and South shore should be absolutely embarrassed to have anyone play on them. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PAY MONEY TO PLAY HERE OR SOUTH SHORE. THANK ME LAYER.
Go to NJ
This golf course is overpriced and uncared for. As a resident, I often drive to NJ because they have better quality courses for the same price point.
The only way you should play here is on an afternoon member special ($25). $83 to play this course on a Saturday morning is an absolute joke... Light your money on fire instead
Dumpster Fire!!
Dont waste your time. just like NYC this place has been forgotten about and you cant give zero stars . How could this once decent course be forgotten about?
ATROCIOUS.
Whoever decided to charge anymore than $20 to play this dump should be thrown in jail. Worst course I have ever seen. The sand traps are growing grass inside. The greens are horrific. The fairway is a mess. Can we at least resod the tee boxes? They have given up on the course and it is a SHAME!
Horrible!!!!!!!!!!
What a horror!!! I've been playing this course for the last 11 years on a regular basis and cant' believe how bad it is. I've been playing for over 30 years and never played on a course this bad. Crab grass all over the place. Tee boxes, Sand bunkers. Fairways burned out. Greens over grown and bumpy. 3rd hole green so burnt out that when I went to place my club down by the pull to put, it slide away it was so hard. I pass by there all the time and was wondering why no one was playing on it, now I know. Hopefully it can make a recover for the 2021 season
Very Sad
Shame on me for not listening to my fellow golfers' recent reviews. I've golfed around 20 courses in my three short years golfing and this one was by far the worst. All the recent reviews were spot on with their critiques so I have nothing to add really. The staff seemed friendly enough but management/ownership has obviously given up on the place or doesn't have the money to maintain it at even a barely adequate level. Not sure how they are even open at this point. And the nerve to charge $55 on a Thursday 2:30 teetime is outrageous. Do yourself a favor and golf somewhere else.... basically anywhere else.
This once prestigious course is now a dump
This once prestigious course that was well maintained now became a dump. The tee boxes are dirt boxes and the sand traps now became bee traps. The worst part about this last experience is that the course still have the golf balls to charge the full $80 for the round with these conditions.
Awful Condition
This course might have the worst tee boxes and sand traps I have ever seen. Weeds/grass are growing in every sand trap (also hard wet sand) and the tee boxes are like hitting from the rough. The layout is normal for a NYC local course with some challenges but the conditions are horrendous. The greens were like bumpy and thick. This course needs a lot of work before I considering going back here again.
HORRIBLE
I have been playing golf a long time and what they have done to this onetime decent course is criminal. It is a typical city course that is really needed . During the covid lockdown when courses were doing their best to make sure when they opened and the course would be ready, They did nothing at all.
It was so beat up everywhere!!!! Everything was so over grown and UNPLAYABLE. The tee boxes were dirt and holes.
I am very surprised that New York City would allow American golf to totally destroy a one time nice golf course.
If you like the game and everything about the sport--GO ELSEWHERE !!!
I would like to hear from someone at golfnow, for a refund.
100% Agree.. I wish I read your comment before I went on 7-3.. they should be charging 1/2 of what they are for this course.. The grass on the sides of the fairways is so deep people were losing balls in plain site..asphalt on cart paths are all pot holed..brutal..
Stay Away
First time playing this course but would not recommend playing. Fairways and greens are in decent shape but the rest of the course is terrible. Impossible to find your ball if you hit into the rough / fescue...Sandtraps are unplayable as they have weeds / grass growing in them. Tee boxes are not in good condition. And on top of all of this, the course is charging
$76.00. Not worth it.
Terrible
I’ve played here a ton, but today was just bad. I get the whole pandemic thing, but they opened up a week ago, did not bother to cut any of the grass, charged $80 though. Even the tee boxes weren’t mowed. Maybe get the course in order before opening, it was terrible today.
Not to mention, there are people “hiding” at wholes through the course with their bags and 4 balls chipping and putting in between groups on the greens. Specifically, hole 11. Why pay for a mess of a course when you can walk on and do that?
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
I also forgot to mention the donut that was left on the 11 hole putting green.
