Spook Rock Golf Course

This course is was nice overall, it has wide open fairways and pretty big greens. It had rained a lot recently, cart path only, so we decided to walk which wasn’t that bad. The only issue is none of the tee boxes are marked, we weren’t sure at first we were playing the right hole. We had trouble trying to find the fairway markers if at all. The greens were very slow but that could because of the rain and they had aerated them not too long ago. Other posts indicate slow play, we thought the starter did a very good job starting people and spacing them. We played the course in 4 ½ hours. We think we saw a Ranger but not really sure, people were still driving on the course even though it was cart path only.

Staff was a joke, particularly starter and cashier. Starter looks at me like I'm crazy for not wanting to share cart with person I don’t know, cashier says then I’ve to pay extra 20 full price for cart. Meanwhile round is prepaid and to top it all the greens were aerated, it’ll be a month for greens to heal fully. So I guess staff don’t care bout COVID protocols, no problem lots of other courses. Been playing here for years last time….can’t deal or argue with ignorance

Only issue was greens had been aerated, which was not indicated in course description.. Still had a great time.

6 people on the green never saw that before. Gréens whére in good condition . Fàirways good too . Play wàs slow .

Always a good round here. It’s in good shape, and it’s just a pleasant place to play.

I had a mid afternoon "hot deal" that included a cart, but was asked to double up with someone I didn't know and when I told the starter I wanted to ride alone due to covid, he said "you're paranoid of Covid" with a sarcastic look on his face like I was from Mars. He let me ride alone. Also, they sent out large groups (8 young players at a time) just before my tee time. A camp I assume, right in the middle of the day. It slowed play for awhile, but the group behind us blamed us for slowing play, and even hit into us. Created some bad feelings. Shouldn't have happened, I love this course.

Beautiful course and layout but probably the worst pace of play in Rockland county. Groups don’t keep pace and there is no ranger or enforcement to hurry along slow groups so entire course gets backed up and you wait on every shot.

Overall this is a fairly decent course. Absolutely love having the GPS in the cart with the overview of the holes and showing you distance, etc. Biggest negative was I was told that I could play the round by myself and then seconds later they moved up a threesome’s time by about 40 mins to group them with me. Not that I minded that, I get it, they have a course to run efficiently. But then right after we teed off, the next group was a solo player. That and the pace of play being a little on the slow side were drawbacks for me.

Like this course. No 2 holes alike. Challenging but fair track. Nice pace of play. Course is in good shape. Has a very neighborhood, friendly feel to it. Great to see kids taking lessons and the range packed.
