Spook Rock Golf Course

hadn't played here in 4 years or so, but remembered all the holes....Basically a course that you can play well on if you can drive the ball and avoid the rough/traps. Greens were a little slow for my liking otherwise I would have given the course a better rating. Some greens are really large and some are not, so you have to pay attention. Good course for a better player IMO.

Golf now gave the opportunity for us to play a very inexpensive round though the note was recent aerated greens. To our amazement they were in great shape. Loved the course layout and only complaint was the rough was ruff! Too long in many places. Looked like the maintenance people didn't finish all the cutting chores especially under and around trees.

Very nice public golf course . not too far a drive. Challenging from all tees. Rough a bit to high thus slowing pace of place. Greens not in great shape.

Played this course twice, each time I play it, it gets more. Prestine as time goes on.i would recommen

I PLAYED ON A COLD DAY OVERCAST AND VERY FEW PEOPLE PLAYING THAT DAY. THE STAFF WAS VERY PLEASANT AND THE COURSE WAS IN PRETTY GOOD CONDITION BUT AS FAR AS DECEMBER PLAY VERY GOOD CONDITION. 30.00 W/CART ON THIS COURSE WAS AWESOME.

Enjoyable layout. A fair test of golf. Superb greens. A must play for the NYC Metro golfer.

Haven't played this course in years, but good value from Golf Now. Greens, fairways and tee boxes in very good condition. Fairly narrow fairways in spots make driver accuracy important. Fun course to play. Look forward to playing again before the real cold weather arrives.

I wish my town had a public course as nice as this. Got a chance to play there for a real bargain price that I found on GOLFNOW. Usual price $75. I paid $40 for a 12:06 tee time with a drive cart. Also enjoyed the company of some fellow Rockland County people who I paired up with there. Best county in New York State.

Comparable to Patriot Hills in terms of quality, but in better condition and closer to Manhattan. Greens are in particularly good shape. Not a hugely difficult course, but plays long off all the tees.

For the intermediate player with a 24 handicap; the fairway grass first cut is way too long. Lost balls or exceptionally long search times for balls just a few feet off the fairway. You are penalized unnecessarily for a shot close to the fairway or green.
First cut around greens 4" or 5"...way too long. This causes again long search times and delays in playing time. Using a 58 degree wedge for shots approx. 3ft off the green is almost necessary on every green.

It seems the course is punishing you excessively for shots just off the fairway or greens. I would expect this length of grass to be at he second cut at least.

I would NOT play this course in the FAll as the leaf cover and grass depth would cause 6hr rounds! and a dozen balls!

Please don't tell me that every shot should be in the short grass or on the green. I don't carry a Tour card ..I am just a guy who plays 50 - 60 rounds a year for pure enjoyment.

Played with my Son and were matched with a wonderful local couple. Really enjoyed playing on a beautiful mature course.A very nice layout.

Best course in Rockland. Fantastic layout and pristine greens. If you like golf, you'll love this course.

This outing was my first time playing this course. The course was reasonably well designed and was quite forgiving if you missed the fairway. The course was fairly well maintained and in good condition. The pace of play during the second nine was very, very bad... really ruined the round. The cashiers and the starter were very nice. The staff in the bar are inattentive and generally distracted and spaced out. The hotdogs we ordered at the turn were stone cold and truly terrible. Given the course itself I would play it again but the food and slow play will make me think twice.

Years ago this was regularly rated one of the best public courses in the country. Many public courses have passed it by. It is still run as a chummy local club at times. Not residents pay way too much given the competition. With proper pricing the tee times could be filled most days, including weekends. $85? No, not with all the other options. However it is still a fun, unique track. Never in pristine condition, but always playable. From the first hole a 90 degree dog leg par four until the difficult par four 18th, there is variety and shot making holes to keep your attention. If you can play it later in the season when greens fees are much cheaper you feel much better. Decent driving range, putting green and chipping area. It is a great course to walk.

My only issue was that they had a golf camp on the course with five golfers. Three groups in front of us played through them. We finally asked the group to play through on the fifth hole. Otherwise, the pace of play was pretty good.

I would definitely play again.

Spook Rock Golf Course is certainly worth the visit, a lush green course amongst beautiful high top trees, there were some vistas that reminded me of what I have seen of Augusta in The Masters TV coverage!

We could not have been made to feel more welcome, from the time we checked in, to the visit to the golf shop, friendly pointer in the right direction and then at the starter box ~ a really well run golf couse, that provided plenty of challenging holes and a pretty good test of golf for golfers with varying skill levels.

Played this course many times over the years..Its always in good shape, tee times usually on time to start off but, the pace of play at this course is horribly slow. I have had many rounds there over 5+ easily with some going to close to 6. The marshals just kind of shrug there shoulders when you ask what the problem ahead is as they know its slow, and just do not care. Hopefully one day they can take care of this issue

Round took Forever! People are yelling and screaming behind us.
Cigarette buds on the Green, bunkers nobody even trying to fix after them self's. Rangers are nowhere to be seen!!!!
It's MESS, WAIST OF TIME AND DISGUSTING!!!
Other wise I liked the track.
But not coming back...

Challenging track. Lots of variety. Front pace of play is good. Hit a wall on ten tee and the back nine drags.
