Spook Rock Golf Course

First time playing the course post-pandemic. Love the layout and the staff and amenities are great. That said, I can only give the course 3 stars at the moment because (a) bunkers are a total mess and like hitting out of a gravel pit and (b) cart paths aren’t much better and are in dire need of repaving. Fix those two issues and Spook Rock would be a solid 4 stars.

First time playing. Took my son out and we had a great time. Course was great, fairways were in good condition…only reason for 4 star on condition is that the greens were being aerated. Also the staff was very friendly except the 4 star is due to the starter being a bit rude, rushing us as if were late when in fact, not only were we there early but we still had 7 minutes left til our 7:10 tee time but the starter kept calling us and when we got to the 1st hole gave us this attitude as if we were late.

Loved everthing but the greens....they were doing some kind of maintenance and the bunkers were unkept and rock hard.....course was nice, pace of play was good..about 4:10 mins clubhouse was stocked well, staff was great....we will be back for sure when the greens are back in shape in a couple weeks.. solid practice range and putting green....didnt see a chipping area....

The greens were in really bad shape but they're getting aerated this weekend so hopefully they improve.

I like the course itself and the conditions are very good. Pace of play is a problem here though. My round was 5 hours and 9 minutes. The only thing I can think is that the slow play is caused by the alternating nature of a par 4, par 5, par 4, par 3, and so on throughout the course. Only the ninth and tenth holes are back to back par 4s. I have played the course on random weekdays, weekends, and varying tee times. It is always slow. I’m fairly certain they do 10 minute tee times so that shouldn’t be the problem.

I place Spook Rock as one of the best courses in Rockland County

I had a great day at the golf course. The course layout was great and the staff was friendly. I had nothing to complain about and would come back again if I had the chance.
