Great greens
This course might have been nice before the hurricane, but is far from recovery. The greens were awesome, but the fairways were in bad shape with little grass and a lot of silt.
I will try the course again in a couple of years.
Great layout and plenty of wildlife
Course is still recovering from Ian but very playable. Price is a value for this time of year compared to the fees charged off island. Greens are in excellent condition. Portions of some fairways are bare but not a big deal with lift and place to grass. Pace of play was fast. Wildlife is abundant. Staff offers great service. Will play it again.
Great course
Great course! Owners were very friendly and accommodating. Greens were in great shape and bare spots in fairway didn’t bother us. Highly recommend. .
Hurricane Ian issues
Haven’t played there in a few years. First time after hurricane Ian. People very friendly. Not much of a clubhouse, though damaged by the hurricane. Greens are good and tees, which weren’t great before, have remained unchanged. However, the fairways are a disaster, with large swaths, (at times 70-80 yards in size) of nothing but mud. I question what they are going to do in the long run, as I don’t see any quick fix to this problem. Plus, they’re charging 3 figures to play there. I gave it 2 stars because the staff is very friendly and the tees and greens are playable
Best greens in the area
I am in town for a week of golf and played 5 courses from Ft. Myers to Naples. This was my first time playing Sanibel Island Golf Club since the hurricane. The greens were absolutely amazing! There are still some bare spots on different fairways, but no big deal getting relief if my ball landed on one.
This course is a hidden gem not just for its affordable price ($100 in season price) but also for its great layout and extremely friendly staff. I will play this course multiple times on my next trip to the area.
Greens are perfect, some work need to be done on fairways
The greens are in top shape and well maintained. There is work to be done on the fairways. Very friendly staff.
In process
Nice greens , look forward to playing course when fairways come in
Great Course! Best Greens Around!
This course has the best greens of any course I’ve played in the last 3 years. Some fairway damage from the hurricane but an absolutely beautiful course.
Just understand the difficulties of a small business trying to recover
As you play your round, keep in mind that the course (fairways) are void of grass in many areas on virtually every fairway. As an avid golfer, understand that a large portion of your green fees are going towards course recovery. This course could be special when the fairways come back (if they can come back). Course management was very honest about the conditions of the course. By the way, the greens were very nice and playable. Bring a couple of cold beers along with some good friends and enjoy the day. This would be a fun course to play a scramble. Let’s support a small business trying to recover from the storm. No 3-putts!
Great layout and fantastic greens
This was my first time playing the course since Hurricane Ian. I hope everyone understands that a lot of work has been put in to get this course back up and running. Drew is great and soon enough it will be back to its full glory. The greens are perfect. Some of the best greens you’ll find in all of south Florida. The clubhouse is coming a long and the restaurant isn’t open yet. The fairways need some work, but very playable. Overall, I love this course. The layout is great and the staff is wonderful.
Obviously the course is still suffering from the hurricane! Greens and tee boxes were in good shape. However the fairways were simply awful at this point and it will be a long time til they are back! They were kind enough to advance warn you to bring your own drinks and food as that part was still not operational. They are doing their best in a tough situation.
Great course
Very nice course and has 2 fairways under repair but very nice overall. Greens in great shape nice place
Don’t use red golf balls
The guy who said not to use a red golf ball was on point. A black crow picked up my ball on front nine but dropped it. On back nine a crow took my ball. If you are vacationing on Sanibel and want an easier golf course this one will work. If you want more of a challenge try The Dunes. And if so bring plenty of balls.
Beautiful course and greens
We totally enjoyed playing on this beautiful course!
The greens have been redone and they are great!
The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed having a light lunch at the Blue Giraffe restaurant in the club house.
We would recommend golfing at this Sanibel course!
Crow Thief
First drive. Red golf ball in the middle of the fairway. Thinking “Well done”. Crow swoops down and steals my ball. My daughter and playing partner was laughing so hard she could hardly play. Check out the wildlife and don’t use a colored golf ball.
