beautiful coarse
It was wet from recent rains but the staff did a great job keeping the coarse nice and very playable.
This is a great course for the fast golfer who wants to get in in less than 3 hours.
Certainly from the blues a good course for the above average golfer. It was a couple of years ago since I played this course for the last time. It was a pity that the greens were just sanded, so putting was hazardous. I was all by myself no one in front of me or in my back pushing, so I had a fast round from the blues in 2,5 hours and enjoyed it.
Fun to play, but course conditions need improvement.
It was a fun course to play. The design on some of the holes is downright evil, and it plays tougher than the rating/slope would indicate.
The course itself needs a lot of work. There are lots of weeds growing in the fairways. The tee boxes are in some tough shape. The greens were ridiculously slow, like putting through molasses.
Overall, my friend and I enjoyed our round. There was hardly anyone on the course, and there were some really neat/different holes to play. Plenty of nature around, as well, if you're into that sort of thing. I just think that for the price, I'd expect some better upkeep.
like the iguanas
We had a great time. The greens are true. The fairways are open. The rough are hard to get out of.
interesting & challenging island course
Played this on a whim after a round nearby on the mainland- saw a GREAT deal on GolfNow and figured why not give it a shot.
Greeted at the pro shop by the owner, who was extremely helpful and friendly. Provided a lot of information about the course, and a yardage book- which proved invaluable for a first round, especially on a tight track with lots of water, hazards- and a blind tee shot on #8!
The course is very scenic, with lots of birds and wildlife. Had it just about to myself- as is often the case for afternoon play in late July.
Conditions were average. Fairways are generally narrow, though there is usually an ample landing area (refer to the yardage book, for sure). Rough is thick, and hazards everywhere. Water on just about every hole, though not a lot of forced carries. Greens are in okay shape- just REALLY slow. They keep 'em pretty long here. Gotta be aggressive, even on downhill putts.
Overall, I had a pleasant afternoon here. I don't get over to Sanibel Island much, but this track is worth a visit.
Poor value at half the price.
No range or practice facilities, save for a putting green that was a model for 18 of the poorest greens I have seen in a long while. Fairways are a mixture of grasses and retain most of the recent rainfall. This track needs serious TLC and is poor value for money. On a positive note the food at the turn was excellent.
Needs some work
This course needs some work. Seemed overgrown, rough was thick and thin, fairways pretty shaggy, greens were really slow.
The staff was great, but they need more work on the course.
I would not have played this course except I got a great deal on Golf Now and friends were down for a week's vacation, were staying on Sanibel and wanted to play a course on the island.
Felt like I got bent over a barrel
As someone who has played their fair share of "cheap" golf courses, this one was by far the worst value. The course seems to maintain itself. Fairways are littered with weeds and the rough could use a trim and a half. As far as the greens, it felt like I was putting in my own front yard (very very slow). Staff was friendly and the food at the turn was good, but other than that it was a very poor experience. Not to mention in the heat of Southwest Florida, they only have one water station which is located at the clubhouse.
Nice course on beautiful island!
Played in the afternoon after a ton of rain this morning. Course was very nice despite the fact it was very wet (cart path only). Greens were nice but not very fast but I guess that's somewhat normal this time of year and again, everything was wet. Staff went above and beyond and was very friendly. I'll be back!
Sanibel island
Poor conditions. Fairways and teeboxes overgrown. Greens were slow. Course was wet. Should be cheaper for conditions.
nice island course
greens were slow, needed to mow some areas, very good layout, staff was great, saw a green iguana, would play again.
Good Time Golf on Sanibel Island
I'll start off by saying the staff here were excellent. They're givers, not takers! We were a foursome who all needed to rent clubs. We were only charged for three sets since one set were stiffs. They were TaylorMade clubs, golfed nicely.
The issue with the course while we were there is that the summer is their offseason so a lot of maintenance was being done. The fairways were barely fairways on the front nine, the back nine were much-much better. The greens had recently been aerated, so there's that.
Overall though for the price that I got the green and cart for through GolfNow ($18 a person) it was an amazing deal for golf on a Florida island.
Small but mighty
Wow! Surprising challenge, narrow fairways water appears out of nowhere. We thought we we're in for an easy course, not so. We would play again in a heart beat!
Outstanding golf course.
This course is beautifully maintained and the staff is second to none. Very friendly and helpful. The course is fabulous with lots of wildlife, lush landscaping and surrounded by fabulous homes. If you are visiting southwest Florida and your a golfer, you need to try this golf course. It is challenging but yet playable for the average golfer. You will lose some balls, but we all do.
It is well worth the money and view on Sanibel Island is---fabulous.
This course is way overpriced
The course is in terrible shape. Only played nine holes even though we payed for eighteen it just wasn't enjoyable because of the terrible condition.
GREAT PACE
played on a sunday late morning, and finished as a single in 1:45.....yes....you read that correct! Course was in good shape, however the greens were among the slowest that I've ever played. Greens were lush, however kept too long. I two putted almost every green....just couldn't seem to get the ball to the hole.
Nice course with great value
I have played here previously, with the old management in charge and this course was is disarray. There are new owners now who are making changes to improve the experience. The new owners are ambitious young Golf Pros who have vast experience in Golf Course management, notably at The Santuary on Sanibel.
These guys know golf, and are implementing improvements to make the experience top notch. Give them some time and this course(yes it's spelled course) will be the best value and playing experience in the Ft. Myers/Sanibel area.
Fun golf course on Sanibel
I thought it was in good shape for a public golf course. Challenging and no shortage of wildlife. Looks like they just got new carts.
"Getting better every day"
Been coming to sanibel for years and always play here. Remodeled golf shop and restaurant are gorgeous and the golf course is better each time I am there. Good luck guys and keep up the good work!
"Great day of golf!"
Had a blast! Great layout. Awesome restaurant. Very attentive and outgoing staff. Not perfect but course condition was much better than I expected. Will return.
