Unfair to Review
It is unfair to provide an honest review of this course because the fairways and tee boxes are still recovering from the devastating effects of 4 consecutive hurricanes. The Pro was a gentleman and Marianne in the Pro Shop was very friendly. But between the traffic going over a rebuilt causeway and the poor conditions of the fairways and tee boxes, that the Pro contacted me on the eve of my round to advise me about, I think I will sit until the course returns to better form.
Best experience possible under challenging circumstances
This course has endured the wrath of mother nature. It is remarkable that the greens are in such terrific shape. The layout is wonderful. Please patronize them as I’m sure time will allow them to recover.

Ok at best
Played there last week after reading the message on the website about the course conditions due to damage from Ian but decided to play anyways. Fairways had lots of bare spots and the ball had to be moved regularly in order to find grass. Drives were carry only with no roll. The greens were covered with sand and not many pits had a true roll. I did not see any new growth of grass in the sandy areas of the fairways so I’m wondering why that is. The way I am seeing it is that it’ll stay this way for the next little while until they start seedingthe areas where there’s no grass. Had a good time though because I met great people and the weather was fantastic, but the course itself was below average.
so so
Paid $85 USD to play this course. Booked it because it seemed ok. seen the reviews and decided to play. I was even texted and was advised of the course condition due to the recent damage done by Ian. went to play it anyways .
The course had lots of dirt area and had to move the ball on most every shot, the drives were all carry and no rol and the greens had been sanded so there was never a true roll on most putts.
I understand the damage caused by the storm and all but the thing that I noticed was the lack of new growth on the dirt areas. I've been around golf a long time and I have seen numerous courses in the repair stage where new grass growth was seen.... but not this course!! wonder why that is!
don't get me wrong, I had a great day. Met very nice people and the weather was perfect so I can't complain but I just wanted to let people know my experiences and I would not recommend until the grass starts growing and improvements area made.
Not in as bad shape as other reviews
Enjoyed my time here. Front nine harder the back due to water! Satellite images are poor and is in much better shape today.
Such a shame that a great course has been devastated
It is a challenge for any golfer as there are lots of water hazards and OB areas. Unfortunately almost every fairway has been devastated by 4 flooding events in the past 2 plus years. That said we played fast and the greens are ok. No way that they should be charging what they are asking and that is why I am sure we played in less than 3 hours. If you don't mind moving the ball (sometimes 30 yards) to an area that is playable you can certainly enjoy the course enough to play. That said after dealing with traffic to get there in the morning and 6$ for a toll you realistically have lots of better options avl. The pro is very communicative as I would say they probably had less than 10 groups all day surely half are regulars and/or residents on the island. Hoping that there is some kind of solution that they come up with to restore what was once a very nice course.
Take extra balls :-)
The fairways on the course are still suffering from hurricane Ian but the greens were superb. It is a challenging course due to water, especially on the front nine, but it was really fun to play. I played several times last week and truly enjoyed myself! The owners were terrific!
On the Mend
A very fun course for intermediate golfers.
A number of fairways are still showing significant damage from hurricanes, requiring lateral moves to put the ball on some grass. That said, the greens were very good and we really enjoyed our round.
One note if you are coming from the mainland: allow about an extra hour and 15 to cross the causeway which is under repair.
Beautiful gator filled track
Green are in great shape and roll true. The fairways are still a little rough and recovering from the hurricanes. Well worth the drive to help support the incredible staff while they continue to work on full recovery. I recommend playing!
All thing considered
All things considered with damage from storms, the greens were perfect the tees were in good shape, damage to the fairways there was always a drop close enough not to effect you that much. Great layout had a lot of fun staff was amazing and upfront about damage, I booked thru golf now and they sent me a text to make sure again I knew about the damage even after phone call when they already explained the damage. Can’t wait to play again.
Nice people shame about the damage from hurricane working hard to restore it I hope it happens for them.
Sanibel Island Golf Club
The staff is excellent and the course is fun. Greens are in great condition. Most of the fairways are good or recovered from the hurricane with just a few of them still with large areas of damage due to the hurricanes. Still a good time and we really appreciated the friendly staff.
sad to see
Unfortunately the course had been hard hit by the hurricanes feel for the owner hope they can make a go of it and eventually get it back in shape .I had been forwarned so it didn't come as a surprise.
Course recovering
You can tell under "normal" conditions this course is a very nice one. Recovering from the two hurricanes has certainly affected the course condition. Greens were in quite good shape. Lift/clean with the ball, and moving from muddy (sea-shell laden) areas to playable fairway areas made it a positive experience.
