Nice course layout and interesting green
The only complain is the group in front of us is so slow that you lose all the swing rhythm.
Great course
Hickory Hills is a wonderful course to play. Good challenge on every hole. Beautiful views. Highly recommend playing here.
Love this place.
I come here weekly. Awesome layout, challenging. Beautiful views. Greens and fairways are good. Some in the process of aeration.
3rd time playing here this year
I've been playing here for 3rd time.
Course condition was fair - some bare ground here and there, bunker was a bit hard. Some has small stones.
But for the price ($38 with cart in weekend afternoon) it is just fine with me. However, there is no course marshal who manages the flow. The whole game was delayed a lot (at some point there were three teams waiting to tee-up) for some reason and they even put a 9-hole player (one person) at the back nine hole, rather than the front nine which has no players, which makes it worse.
Really nice course
Had trouble finding greens
Need better signage for direction of hole
Might have to give it a second try
A friend of mine brought me here on a Sunday afternoon. His selling point of the course was that it’s always empty and that in the past he’s been able to just tee off with whatever person he was bringing. That was a huge selling point, because I’ve had some bad pairings that completely ruin an otherwise great round.
The course was filled. So filled in fact that they ran out of carts. We had a 12:10 tee time and didn’t get a cart until 12:45. It ended up being the longest round I’ve ever played in my life. We walked out 18 around 6 o’clock
Course was in good shape. It isn’t a challenging course aside from three holes where your 1st and 2nd shot are blind. Other than those, it’s a pretty easy course.
I will give this course another shot before I write it off.
Good shape for late September
Tee boxes, greens in great shape. Fairways need some water but it hasn’t rained in about 2 weeks so....Greens are almost unfair here. Almost no flat greens. Beautiful scenery and a great price.
Excellent time
The day I went , highs in the low 60’s. I am a beginner, and I found this course to be very fun. It was challenging but not discouraging. There were a lot of shots and on an open course to take home and keep the hunger. It was in really good shape and for an hour drive outside of NYC, it was definitely worth it.
BRING YOUR A-GAME
Tough Greens - Lots of undulation
Tricky Back Nine - 16 is a weird hole
Tee boxes need TLC. Course needs better green-to-tee signage for first timers.
For me, play once, experience it and move on.
Open layout
Fairways are wide, can often play an errant shot from adjoining hole. Despite dry weather, greens in good shape, but.tricky with a lot of slope and tough pin placement. Rough and fairways were sun baked, a lot of roll but also exaggerated bounces. Bunkers well maintained. Few level shots, every hole either up or downhill. A fun course
Hodge Podge Layout
Conditions varied dramatically between plugged balls and burned out grass that ran forever (toward the woods).
But mostly, several blind, odd, frankly badly designed holes. The 16th is a nightmare for a county course. 450 yd with a lake about 225 from green....but it's 100 yes to carry. So a long hitter has to lay up, leaving 230 to go. A short hitter is laying up on 2nd shot with 220 to go on a par 4, lying 2....or trying to be a hero and dripping 4.
