I know times are tough but this is sad
I enjoy the layout of this course even with some of the quirky holes. I know it’s early in the season and the virus is killing business but the shape of this course is the worst I have seen in the area. There are bare tees of nothing but dirt, the fairways are like concrete, and the cart paths are falling apart. I wouldn’t know where to begin to fix it. At least they haven’t aerated yet so the greens still putt well.
Slim Pickings
Played this course for the first time this week. The staff is very friendly and saw them sanitizing carts. The course is in ROUGH condition (the tee boxes were rock-hard dirt. It was cart path only due to everyone required to take their own cart during Coronavirus but there’s no fairways to protect. The holes are dead straight aside from a few rare occasions. Only positives: friendly staff, greens were OK. Overpriced at $30
It is! What it is!?
Good to play!!!! Cart path only?? Bring a pen and paper. Old scorecard would work! None available . I get it! Heads up on both would have been nice! In conclusion, Go & get after it! Course is none the worse nor the better! Since, the cable cart stopped from 11 up to 12 th hole. Still, one of the best par 3 in the metro! If you need ? A feel good booster round! It’s in a valley & possible Paridise for your game
08 Iron
This is a great course in season. Greens are in great shape, even in Winter!
Par for this course
Nothing too good or bad to say about the course itself. Employees/amenities are not great. Players on course seemed tense/quick. Probably wouldn't go back unless a deal popped up.
Wet but fun
Went after a big rainstorm and the course was soaked - like moving water in some fairways soaked. That significantly reduced pace of play and I can’t blame the course for that.
Overall I really enjoyed it though. The scenery alone beats the heck out of golf in the city, and I’ll be back next time I am in the area.
A tale of two nines.
Paradise Valley is good value for the average golfer. The front nine is relatively short, flat, and simple. In contrast, the back nine is longer, hilly, and challenging. Back nine has some very picturesque. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
Bad Pace, Good Course
The course was great condition, staff was awesome. Pace of play was awful. I will sh they would’ve yelled at a few groups in front of us.
Review of 7/6/2012, Paradise Valley
Greens were in good shape but a little slow. Fairways were ok but there were rough spots here and there.
Overall it was OK but I am not sure it was worth 38 dollars.
Greens were nice
The condition of the greens were the best part. Very pleased with that and the staff. The course layout is a bit odd. Takes some course knowledge to play well here. I would go there again compared to other courses in the area for the money.
Nice course
Nice, challenging course with good elevation change and hole variety. Some areas of bare dirt but minimal. Most of the fairways in good condition. Greens were in excellent condition.
Potential
I've played this course a couple times a season over the past 3 years. Although I keep leaving disappointed, I believe this course has potential. The location and course layout is great, although the maintenance and upkeep on the course is less than par. They've had water hazard project on the 17th hole that has been ongoing for the past couple years without completion. With that being said your shooting around an odd hazard of a half empty pond and 3 foot excavated dirt on the sides.
Today was dry with a only 2 fairways potentially wet from the rains from last week causing a cart path only rule that not only my group was left in confusion about.
The greens are good, on the weekends they offer an outdoor grill that's good as well.
Pretty good shape for being soggy
The area has just been hammered with rain of late.
The play was cart path only. So, play was a bit slow. However, the greens were in great condition. Not much roll our in the fairways. So, everything played almost a club farther than the yardage showed.
One note, the GPS reading on the first hole always reads farther than it is. I got readings of 160 when I had to be more like 130. Otherwise my readings seem to line up well with the course markings.
Staff was very pleasant; had a good time.
Not Worth The Time
I saw the reviews for this course and it seemed like a good idea. Around $30 for a nice afternoon to golf. Let me tell you when I say I regretted the whole thing. First couple of tee boxes had literally just about 3 patches of grass. I know that the grass has been struggling this year, but there wasn't even evidence that grass was seeded. I would say 70% of my shots were hitting off of dirt in the middle of the fairway and the tee box. The only decent thing about the course was the greens which were in really good shape. But when I go to a par 3 and I have 0 grass to hit off of, that is definitely an issue. Plus the pace of place was extremely slow. We had a threesome in front of us playing 2 balls each and wouldn't let anyone play through. There was no one monitoring the pace of play and it showed. Definitely a beginner course and will not be returning. Way to much money for that kind of conditions.
Very playable
Course management is working hard to improve conditions. Greens were In Very good shape, rough was filling in nice and some fairways may fill in by July. The course is very playable and an enjoyable layout.
Preseason Golf
Enjoyed the golf with nice weather but could tell weather had been hard on course. Zoysia fairways look ragged. heavy rains have washed out a bunch. Sand traps were hard. Many trees have been cut down and over seeding is much needed. Anxious to see it early June after some work is put into it. I've always liked the lay-out.
The entire course with exception of the greens has been hit hard with wet conditions.
While the price was right for this time of year. the course conditions leave much to be desired. There are other better values for the buck in our area.
