Never going back...
Course was in horrible shape, but for the price I guess you "get what you pay for"
Eh..
This course is what I call a 'fill in' course. This is somewhere you play only when your favorite courses are booked and/or you can't find a good deal anywhere else. Every course does become 'worth it' at some price point and this one is around $20-25 for PEAK times.
The course layout isn't terrible, the trees are mature and can offer some challenging holes/shots. It's a par 70 with the front being a little shorter, more par threes and you won't need a driver on more than 2-3 holes. The back is much more challenging and has more distance. Most tee boxes and bunkers need a lot of work/grass, but the greens & fairways are in decent shape.
The facilities appear to have not had a dime invested in them since perhaps the Reagan era. The upstairs bar/restaurant has a bit of a stale odor to it and at night could probably host a wake. There's plenty of potential though if they'd start over -- but I guess they are hoping people ignore the lack of investment and feel like they might be at bushwood from caddyshack. Also don't expect too much from the staff. They obviously have driven by nicer courses and see how life 'could be'.
All that said, it's a good course if you can play for cheap. Perhaps a great course for kids to learn? I wouldn't drive too far to play it though.
Worth the Drive
Course was wide open with limited number of players. Great price from a hot deal. Greens were in great shape. Fairways were well maintained. We plan to return soon.
Good local course
This is a great place to play after noon on a week day. My wife and I played on a Monday and had the course to ourselves and only let one single go through. The course is in good shape with great greens.
Will play again
Well maintained with significant degree of difficulty, especially the back 9.
Lots of duffers as am I, but I was a single and they were kind enough to let me through.
This is a shot makers course as fairways are narrow and greens are not large.
I'm 69 years old and will play again.
Time to play 4 hrs
Score 87, from whites.
OK for the price
Fairways and greens were in good shape but most of the tee boxes were rough. Starter/pro shop worker allowed us to start on the back nine to avoid league golfers when making the turn, which allowed us to complete our round in less than 4 hrs.
great price
last minute decision .teamed up with 2 nice gentlemen who could ay better than i can but i enjoyed their company
fun course
Course was fun but most of the par 3 t boxes didn't have any grass on them and because of recent rains they were just mud.
Course doesn't know what they are doing
They let a league out on 10 while people were making the turn and 1 was wide open... Food was a poor selection and tasted funny. Course was ok. Holes need to be refined and pin placement was questionable. Won't come back.
Good price, not maintained well though
My buddy and I played here because it was reasonably priced. We weren't impressed with the condition of the course though and both agreed we would probably never be back.
Great course, great value
We booked through GolfNow.com (I think) and got a deal for $28/person for 18 and a cart. Never played, but it was close and worth a shot. The staff were great and the course was in decent (but not great) condition (mostly due to recent cold weather in STL). We really enjoyed it; the only thing that would've made it better would've been a faster pace of play. We were playing a best ball format (2 teams of 2), so we moved pretty quickly, but there was a group two groups ahead of us who really gummed up the works for everyone. They let the group ahead of us play through, then a couple of holes later they waved us through. Once we got past, everything opened up. Not much you can do about that, so it's hard to hold it against the course. The one thing that the course could do better is mark yardage; often times, the cards were no where close to what was listed on the hole signs (or the sprinklers near the tees; sometimes being off as much as 40 yds). It's hard to gauge distance when you've never played the course.
Overall, great experience. Will definitely recommend and play again.
All right for the (discout) price.
Fairways on front nine were thin, and only a few holes have distance markers. Also, many of greens had maple helicopter seeds in abundance. Too bad greens were not blown off. P.M. play was slow, but great weather made up for it. Back nine was in better condition, and more challenging due to narrow fairways and topography.
Disappointed
Course appears very run down. It does not appear much has been done to maintain it. Condition has deteriorated since last time playing there over five years ago.
This course is a dump!!!
Dead tee boxes and dead fairways, greens rolled somewhat good but were very slow.Cart paths beat you to death. First and last time i will ever play the course
In Progress
Greens were very nice...slow but smooth roll. Fairways and tee boxes are what keeps this course from being a good one. Yardage markers need to be in the fairway and not in the line with out of bounds. Could be a really fun course if they put some work in it.
Good Setting - Needs Work
This course could benefit from some TLC - the tee boxes were in poor shape. It looks like the management may be moving to upgrade course conditions - that would be good. We will revisit this course in the summer at some point to see how they are doing. The price on GolfNow was good - but I certainly would not pay more.
Well maintained for this time of year
They did an excellent job of keeping the fallen leaves off the entire course. BRAVO!
Great value for the price
I have always loved this course. Fun to play. Usually in pretty good shape with very reasonable greens fees. Some of my very first rounds of golf were on this course, now my best rounds of golf have been on this course. Guess that makes me biased.
Course needs lots of work on greens fairways
was fun to play but condition of course could be greatly
improved
Challenging course, convenient location
I played this course on a spur-of-the-moment booking. Got a great price from Golf Now. The course was in pretty good shape but some of the greens were spotty. The tee boxes were in okay but not great condition. There aren't enough yardage stakes on most of the holes making club selection a guess for nonregular players.
