First Time Won't Be The Last
After playing 18 at another local course, my buddy and I needed to get some additional work in, but didn't want to play some other 9 hole courses we're familiar with. After checking the GolfNow app, we found that Paradise Valley was just five miles from where we were, so we decided to give it a go.
We played the front 9 at Paradise Valley on 6/11 for the first time. I must say, this is one of the best looking and most well manicured courses I've had the opportunity to play. Mind you, I only played the front, but if the back is anywhere need what I had the chance to play on, GREAT course. I personally cannot wait to go back and go the full 18.
Not the ideal course
This tee time should have never been available to play. When we got there, we played a very good pace for our first 9. On the back nine, we had to play behind a league and it took us almost 4 hours to complete 9 holes.
We were only supposed to be charged $22 a person after the GolfNow anitial fee, however we were charged $26/person.
They had just sanded the greens, which is beyond me why you would do so this late. It was like putting on a beach. The fairways and tee boxes were in rough shape too.
Too many other course at the same price or cheaper that are in way better shape to come back.
Mike is always nice.
Front nine easy back nine more difficult.
Play here several times a year.
Staff always nice and price is always reasonable.
Course was drying out after very wet week
Had not played this course for some time and it was good to return. Because of wet weather the previous week, they had been unable to mow and requested carts remain on the rough and not the fairways which was fine. Several holes are quite difficult to carry from the gold (gals) tees but apart from that the course was fun.
A nice and unique golf course
The management is very nice and friendly
Golf course is challenging and will need all the clubs. eaxh hole is different
The condition of teebox can be improved but it's not a big deal. In mid March, the green is really green and smooth. Fairway can grow a bit more. I like this course.
Really enjoyed the layout
Great course for the value. Found a hot deal on the course. Im not great by any means but played very well here. I was even contacted 15 mins before my tee time advising me of a frost delay. I would highly recommend this course to anyone. Might even play my next round there.
Great day
Weather was perfect and the golfing was good. Some greens were a bit sandy but playable. Fairways were nice and short cut. Pace of play was moderate. Overall a good round of golf.
Great value course.
The course was really nice. The staff is friendly and the weather was perfect. This was a hot deal.
A course unfit for its staff
Paradise Valley, is an inappropriately named golf course. Unless of course your definition of paradise veers drastically from the dictionary's. This course provided many challenges, most of which involved keeping my temper in check about its condition. It's filled with changes in elevation... Of the concrete of the cart paths. Jagged, bumpy, and unfit for club cart traffic. The design utilizes a unique mix of sand and water, by which I mean that there was standing water in nearly every bunker. Making it impossible to determine whether management inteded to create a pond where God chose to put land. Luckily, I spent little time in these hybrid traps. What was more frustrating, was the difficulty I had determining where the fairway stopped, and the rough ended. There is virtually no benefit to landing your tee shot in a paradise valley fairway. Your lie will be that of rough. And even if you make it to the green, good luck putting out. These "masterpieces" looked like they'd been strafed by the Luftwaffe during WW2, and roll at a snail's pace. One strong point, was the pace of play. On account of there being no one else on the course other than myself and what appeared to be a vagrant living in the snack bar. At $37 for 18 and my poor excuse for a club car, this course is not worth your time. It was as if management truly had no concept of competitive pricing, or decent landscaping. However, the lone diamond in this course of rough, was the pro shop boy. Nestled in a quaint valley, the shop and its keeper salvaged my otherwise dreadful experience. Adam was helpful, humorous, and put a smile on my troubled face. This charming young man reminded me of what it was like to fall in love with this great game, all over again. I felt things for him that I had not felt for my wife in years. He provided excellent service, despite obviously knowing that the golf course he works at is an utter dumpster fire. Thank you Adam, for providing exceptional service at a sub par course, that I will not be returning to.
Course in bad shape
Two recent water main breaks has caused flooding in the fairways. A lot of muddy shots. Rough not cut Saturday morning.
Great layout/nice greens/unmowed fairways
I played 18 holes from the tips on this beautifully golf course which is a good value for a public course. Lovely setting. It was a fun course to play and I'm glad I chose to play here today. I will return to play it again later this summer. The greens were in great shape but slow; I had a hard time adjusting to them, though. From the back tees it plays at about 6,100 yards. All that being said, one caveat: apparently there is a shortage of mowers for the bermuda grass fairways. I couldn't tell when looking down the fairway from the tee box where the fairways ended and the rough began. The bermuda grass seed stems were sticking up about two inches in the middle of the fairways, costing loss of roll out after ball lands and who knows what effect on shots from the fairway. The fairways would be fine if they were mowed more often. Maybe the bermuda grass is in some rapid growth cycle right now, but still, they need to mow more often. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt--maybe the mower guys were sick or didn't show up the last day or two. Golfers should not expect fairways to be what they normally play on. There are a lot of beautiful trees but not a lot bunkers nor much water. Holes 12 and 13 were a lot of fun with the high elevations. Just don't get lost trying to find number 12 tee like I did, LOL.
Great Day, Great Course
We love playing this course, when they have promotional rates. It has a decent combination of sand and water to keep things interesting. It was a beautiful day and the course traffic reflected this beauty. Nice little snack bar and great Pro Shop in the clubhouse.
Great layout
Early in the year but tee boxes are in bad shape. Fairways and greens decent
Good value
Still a bit early in the season, so the course was still coming around. Tee boxes were kind of rough, fairways were OK, but greens were pretty good. Staff was friendly and helpful. Not a very long or difficult course, but enough elevation changes and angles to be interesting. Great value, especially some of the GN hot deals. I'd definitely play again.
Fun course!
The course was not real long. The front 9 was wide open and you can score well. The back 9 was cut out of the woods and was considerably tighter but very scenic. They had a name for each hole which kind of fun figuring out what they meant: "Revenge", "improbable" and "postage stamp" we're some of the names. Greens were in good shape but fairways hadn't quite greened up yet but still not bad for early in the year. Staff was really friendly and made you feel welcome.
Worth a look!
Winter play
Course was in good condition although windy and cold shot my best round of the year
I always enjoy playing here.
Great for Golfers of all levels. Staff is very friendly. Front nine is a nice confidence booster. Back nine is a challenge! Course is well kept and maintained,
Great time at a local course.
The course was in very decent condition for the time of year. It was a little difficult to locate balls with all the leaves on the ground, which the maintenance crew were working on as we played. Fairways were very short and the grass was dormant. Rough areas were a little long, but very playable. Greens were in very good shape, although they played slow.
The back nine was very enjoyable and played like one of the professional courses! Will definitely be back next Spring!
