Ok muni
Had a late morning round, thankfully it was a rainy so not busy.
I like forest, it’s my local go to for last minute fun round. Few tee boxes look like a dirt track more than a golf course. Greens were in fairly good shape, could be better if people repaired their pitch marks. It’s unbelievable how many “players” have zero golf etiquette.
I’d continue playing it, just wish they charged a little less I think it’s a bit overpriced for what you get.
Best course in Queens
Forest Park is a tight, interesting layout with a lot of strategic thinking required to score well. Greens are in good shape, as are most of the fairways and tee boxes (with a few exceptions). Great staff who care about the condition of the course and the golfers having a good time.
Atrocious
Where is the money going when we pay for a round? It is not going to maintaining the course, I can tell you that!
Great potential
First most tee boxes were dirt. Not acceptable. Doesn’t look like anyone fixes ball marks on greens.
Tee boxes and greens are very close to each other on some holes.
However, Great layout & 5 hr round was not bad for public course.
Same old forest park
Nothing too terrible other than hard as a rock and often bare tee boxes. If you get a deal, it's not bad due to a decent course layout but paying full price to play here might leave you disappointed when you are playing on somewhat torn up greens (due to folks never repairing their ball marks).
Very nice green and fairway, also layout plan is very good territory.

All my friends are ver happy for play this golf course. Big trees and nice ponds, happy time for relax golf.
Slow Play and others hitting your ball
Slowest round here today almost 5 hours. Group in front had a few members who never played golf before and didn’t know where to put cart so always in the way and taking too long. Additional frustration from having my ball hit by others on two separate holes and having to play a lost ball. Not sure if I will come back here.
NOT terrible for an NYC course, but...
I wish the starter... a) asked players to fix their divots and ball marks on the green. If you are a golfer reading this you should KNOW how to do these two things in order to play golf. (takes 20 seconds to learn on a youtube video). The green wouldn't be terrible if players did this. It's part of the game!
You should also not have 4 foursomes behind you if you are on the 2nd green. The starter, Bob, needs to hold the groups back and tell them when to tee off. It is a short course & there will be delays, but you can alleviate some of the stoppages by doing this which makes it a more pleasurable experience for all players.
No fun playing behind a Sixsome!
Pace of play on the course was totally out of control.
Lots of frustration and arguments amongst groups.
The Starter does a good job, but someone needs to be on the course policing slow play, mulligans and groups of more than four!
It's a Muni Course in NYC. Can't expect too much
I mainly go here because it's so close and the best out of all the muni's in NYC. Pace of play was slow due to a group that was mucking around. Not the course's fault. Called the pro shop and they dealt with it perfectly.
Remember, NYC courses. have a lot of foot traffic and the rates for Muni's are cheap. If you're looking for pristine conditions, you have to go out to long island or new jersey.
