Forest Park Golf Course

Great layout, well kept greens, solid value. Only complaint is that a few of the tee boxes are eaten up, not surprising for this late in the season.

Never played in Queens before. Just discovered this course, played it once and came back for more right away. Not an easy course but, very interesting layout. Nice staff, clean facilities.

Good: fairways and greens were in playable condition. Greens were slow, but rolled true. We teed off on time and staff was ok. Close to the city and cheap.

Bad- tee boxes were punched out and basically hardened mud. 6 hour round. With the tee boxes where they were the par 5s played about 415 yards- in fact other par 4s in the course play longer than the par 5s. The holes are very close together and you can expect a lot of “fours!” coming your way- especially since most golfers there are beginners. Keep your head on a swivel!

It took almost 5 hours to play 13 holes. An absolute disaster. Will not be back.

Most people waiting hole to hole, and course is in poor condition. I play here for convenience but not my preference.

Played on a Tuesday @11:20am. No delays. Course in decent condition and very nice to see they’ve been doing maintenance.

Many tee-boxes are in rough shape but they are clearly marked.

Fairways were great. Greens were fine.

It’s a narrow course so accuracy off the tee is key here. You don’t need to be a big hitter to hit par.

The excuse that is often given for a public course is "it's in pretty good condition considering how much play the course gets". In the case of Forest Park that just doesn't fly. Of course it gets a lot of play, but the condition of the tee boxes is horrific, not necessarily because of too much play but because the trees on the course are so overgrown they completely shut out natural light on the tee boxes. The fairways and shot lines to the greens are also blocked out by overhanging limbs, so even if you think you have shot at the pin quite often you don't. The course needs to have about 50% of the trees taken out or cut back. Our group also had a confrontation with the group in front of us as the waited for the group in front of them to clear the green on the 7th hole, a 325 yard par 4! When I questioned why they were waiting they got insulted as if I was questioning their manhood. When they finally chose to hit they all hit miserable shots nowhere near the green, then blamed me for rushing them.

I have played Forest Park many times and it is always a fun and challenging course. This time it was pretty waterlogged as a result of the rains from Ida. The crew did the best they could considering and kept the course open when others might have been shut down. A few tee boxes could use some serious attention as they are all dirt.

Pace was good and slower groups did let us play through which was very considerate.

The manager of the course was not very friendly and accommodating. Very rude when you ask something. He should be not be on that position. He never updated the course for such a long time.
