Home Course
Wonderful layout. For a public course that gets a lot of traffic, it’s in pretty darn good shape. Love this place.
Weekend Carts Only
Forest Park is a good golf course , good layout and they seem to have figured out how to speed up the greens a little. .
We played on Sunday morning, and paid for a cart , I recommend on the weekends anyway that it is golf cart only for everyone because the guys walking slow down the rounds .
It's the only fault I have with the city courses , is the pace of play , otherwise it would get 5 stars .
Forest park
Great course, however, the pace was slow the day I played, a lot of par threes were backed up (3-4 groups were on one whole). Other than that the course was well kept and friendly staffs.
For a local course you can’t complain
I’ve been shooting in the low 90s here. Some of the greens need a lot of work and some of the tee boxes have seen better days. Holes 1&2 play well 3 isn’t too bad either. 4th hole par 5 has seen some better days. Once you get through the 7th or 8th hole the course really turns itself around. I enjoy it very much. Short course but with the elevstion it’s challenging.
Course maintenance
The 15 hole was a complete disappointment. Lily pond overflowed, just about on the green. A definite eye sore! From the looks of it, a system malfunction..?
A Gem of a Course Neglected
The company that leases this course from the city does the minimum to maintain it operational. Money money money. (1) Fix the greens that have been vandalized for almost a year. (2) Get help to fix the tee boxes. It’s not rocket science. Right now one either tees off from mud or the rough. Mow the tee boxes that are grassed and grow grass on the bad ones
(3) print out a simple etiquette flyer for all the new Covid golfers—where to park their carts, speed of play, fixing divots, repairing ball marks on the green. (4) Have one of the pro shop personnel drive the cart onto the course and help to Marshall the groups. Invariably at the end of slow play u will find a group of folks with large hats and parasols strolling the course like it’s Sunday Afternoon in the park with George.
(5) pleas open up the practice greens!! We know how Covid spreads and where. Stop using Covid to reduce the already paltry amenities.
Forest Park is one of the most beautiful and challenging city courses anywhere in the USA. The group in charge is failing it.
Field conditions
Tee boxes and fairways need to be improve. No grass on tee boxes. Some fairways and green not close to average conditions.
Other than the green condition are not so good and you can’t complain the others.
Sunday Morning
Nice day, friendly enough staff, easy going, greens needs some attention, tees need even more attention.
Just bad
$74 with cart to play a course that’s in horrible condition. Slow divot filled greens. Overgrowth everywhere. Grass less dirt tee boxes. This is not worth the money. Course lay out isn’t bad and If it was cheaper would be a fun place to learn the game but it just isn’t any good.
