Slow Green
Color of the Green was perfect but, Greens are So Slow!!!
Tight narrow track, accuracy a must.
Just about the same details in my earlier review below only this time the staff (pro shop guy and starter) were super friendly.
Tight narrow track, accuracy a must.
Based on today's round, golfing was definitely one of the better days. The bad reputation this place gets is extremely slow play/overbooked and below average conditions. Since this track is so conveniently located, playing here when there is time during midweek is almost unavoidable. Being lucky enough to play on a Wednesday helped eliminate the slow play this place is notoriously known for. Conditions of the fairways and greens great especially for a NYC course. Some tee boxes were closed due to much needed TCL. Weather was picture perfect to make this round very enjoyable. If possible, play here during the week and not the weekend.
Average
Pace of play was at 5 hours which is standard for NYC. Some holes are extremely narrow. Conditions are ok, greens are in decent shape but on the slower end. Some teeboxes need some work. Its by no means a course worth traveling to and could be an option for those who want to stay local.
An NYC Muni Gem
This is a short but challenging course because of the tight, tree-lined fairways. It has rolling terrain, elevations, swales, doglegs, a few very good tiered and contoured greens. Very walkable. Other than a few greens that are always in bad shape and some tee box issues, the course is usually in good condition. Like any NYC muni, pace of play can be an issue. Overall, a fun, interesting course.
Forest park
The staff is great... course could be manicured a bit especially on the greens. Overall love playing there because it's challenging
Short Course with challenges!
Fairways were in great shape, you must be able to aim pretty well because some holes are narrow. I like the challenge. Note the greens were not in the best shape but was still able to putt.
Tee boxes need work little chopped up.
All in all I like the lay out of the course.
Very nice, short, urban course with good variety of holes
I played well for early in the season. Some fairways narrow so good tee shots are helpful. Some tees are very near previous greens so need to be alert to avoid errant shots of group behind you!
Shot makers course, thinking required
Not a long course but very narrow on on many holes. This place will put your control of the ball to the test.
On a Tuesday, you would think you could squeeze in a round when you get out of work early on a gorgeous day. On the other hand, this is NYC. The front 9 took just over three hours and for the most part it was due to waiting on holes three, four, and five.
This part of the course never dissapoints in holding play up mostly due to the tee shot on the short par 5 hole number 4.
From the back tees, you have about a 220 yds force carry to reach the fairway. Not only is the distance a factor, the fairway is really narrow for a par 5 tee shot. Since about 80% of golfers actually legitimately break 100, you could imagine what I'm getting at when you watch parties of people hitting tee shots especially from where they shouldn't be plating from.
Slow play here has always been notorious so I wouldn't expect that to change. Avoid playing here on weekends unless you're prepared for a 6 hour round.
A decent NYC muni with a fun, challenging layout.
This course has good bones. A bit short on the front, but tight fairways with lots of trees, elevated greens, dog legs, swales, some big contours and tiers in the greens. Some of the greens are chewed up probably because of the trees blocking sunlight. This is basic NYC muni golf with some interesting holes in a short but decent layout.
DAVE L
Nice course, the fairways can be a bit tight at times and with the tree lines it can be challenging if your off the fairway. They are doing a lot of upgrades to the course. Replacing cart paths, rebuilding and installing sand traps. Had a bad experience a year ago with ridiculously slow play where I didn't even finish my round. Not the case this year. Only complaint is having to pay for parking.
Needs alot of work / below average
This was the course i grew up playing and man has it gone down the tubes.. every tee box was basically dirt, greens were absolutely horrible, and the course took 5hrs and 38 min to finish..
Theres no denying the course gets alot of play..... but where on earth does the money go... surley not back into the course...
Ruined my entire saturday but i did shoot a solid 83 considering you wait 15 min on every hole and the greens not being maintaned (as you know scoring is done around the greens) up to standard..
If you dont have a car its minutes from the train ..... other than that theres no real positives accept for the staff A++ there super cool and recognize a real golfer when they see one..328 crush drive first hole..Birdie.. started hot. #arccosgolf
Shot makers course, thinking required
Played on a Monday morning so pace was better than what this place is known for. A couple years ago on a weekend I finished 3 holes after 1 hour and 20 minutes then walked off. Not a very long track but very easy to get penalised after bad tee shots. Mid to high handicapperschool who use a driver on all four 4's will have a tough time losing their ball. The hand full of times i played here, i always run into players with no course etiquette. There is only so much course maintenance can do but when a insurmountable amount of divots and ball marks are not replaced or fixed, it makes a course less enjoyable. I was a single and a threesome who was no better than +20 handicaps wouldn't let me pass was disturbing. All this pretty much happens on NYC municiple courses. Overall a fun layout, just try to play during the weekday if possible.
