God hates me!
While visiting my son ,he took me to this place, the guy in the pro shop was nice until this fine young man cut in front of me while I was checking in! Loud n yelling hay man what time is it,the pro shop guyknew him!!!!!!he looks at me n says I'm putting you with this guy,I knew right then my day was over! about to begin!!!this, was the most inconsiderate, obnoxious, rude, almost got us killed ,when he started yelling at the five huge drunk's in front of us!they owe me for that round!pro shop knew this guy!never again!!!
Forest park
Good course for the money. Hot deal on golf now. 20$. Uber from Manhattan. Nice fairways. Greens good shape except no one fixes ball marks. If back in NY, might play again. Good staff on hand.
- Worth a play -
The Clubhouse definitely needs to be standardized - The TV speaks for itself :) !! The pro-shop has to meet a basic standard to meet the definition of "Pro"(ness). The course has upgraded considerably in its maintenance. The pace however is still at its best, "slow" . its not an easy course, that is for sure. I love the course, nevertheless.
gtgalla
the course was in good condition and is challenging. would go again. they took down some of the ropes so you could ride your cart where at one time you had to go out and come back.the staff was excellent as always.
Recommended if you get a good deal and have patience
Good course layout. Some wait times at the tee were awful but opened up as day went along. Price can't be beat.
The "New and Improved" Forest Park Golf Course
I've been a regular at the course for about 10 years now. What a turn-around since then. Everything from the staff, grounds crew, course condition has improved greatly. This past fall (2015) major ground work was done on a new putting green, tee boxes and general landscaping. If you haven't played this course in a long while it's time to come back and enjoy:The "New and Improved" Forest Park Golf Course.
This is a short course but challenging.
It is okay for practice. You will use all clubs in your bag.
Nice Course
Played here many times. This course is always improving. The only complaint would be the price they charge on a regular basis this time of year. The Golf Now rate was fine 50 something with cart. Without Golf Now they try to hit you up for over $70.
Overpriced at that number any time of year.
Tee time confusion
While we respected waiting on the side for an hour for tee time as was instructed by the attendant, we discovered a group ahead of us with tee time after ours. The Sheriff didn't intervened even after we told him. The group, however, let us go ahead. It wasn't nice feeling that we had to respect the rule for our time whilst in the main time others after us started.
Fall Golf at its best!
Beautiful day in late November - mid 60s and very little wind - the course is in good shape and tee are back so playing a little longer than normal. Greens are running true and most likely the best round before the snows come...have to cherish days like this and get out early to beat the crowd!
Not Bad..
This course was a little better then I expected. As a New Yorker I come to realize with our city courses it is what it is. Anything bad reviews or comments on our courses is something I learned to understand that this is NYC and that's that big apple tough love and from what it appears they feel the same about the courses . I had a amazing time . Pace was slow but I was able to enjoy my time with the guest I was golfing with. Our conversations made up for the weight time . A few challenging holes but for a advance golfer it should be cake walk. If you looking for great quality definitely invest your money else where but if your looking for NYC this is one of the places to be. The best thing was the BBQ lady on the 9th hole with the grill fired up cooking burgers and dogs .
Wear a helmet and bring a book to read
Course layout is an old school so it's a shot makers course due to its narrow fairways. If you decide to play here you will most likely hang yourself due to slow play. I played all NYC courses and I think this one is the least enjoyable. On weekend I finished 3 holes after 1 1/2 hrs and walked off. Certain areas where the tee boxes are placed between greens from other holes so it's the ultimate shooting gallery. Typical NYC public golf food so the food is frozen. Parking attendant will make sure you pay for parking even if you do not park in the parking lot. Course gets a ton of play by players who are new to the game or just can't play at all. Don't expect the fairway divots replaced, bunkers raked, and ball marks on the greens fixed.
Far below par
No rangers, pace of play not enforced. 5.5 hour round. Late tee off. Starter let a FIVE sum tee off ahead of us?! Tee boxes hardly had any grass to tee off of. Weeds, clovers, and dirt litter the fairway. Rocks in some sand traps. Some greens were nice and could be appreciated but most were in normal condition. Course is constructed way too close together. Tee boxes are very close to apposing greens. In one case, the tee box is less than 30 feet left of a par 3 green in which many golfers hit right into the tee box--dangerous. I was constantly worried about getting hit and had a few close calls. $70/player (with cart) is way too much. This course is worth $30 with cart at most. Very disappointed.
Better than expected
Greeted by a long line at the Starters Shack and the fact that everyone plays from the blue tees here I thought this would a very loooong round. After the 3rd or fourth hole the pace of play was good with no waits to tee off. Course was in pretty nice shape with just a few rough tee boxes and a bare spot on the 18th green. I would come back to play,it's a shame there is no practice range there.
Good for the price.
$52 for the 18 holes with a cart is not bad at all. The problem was that the 10th hole is not near the club house so I could not take a short break after the half a round.
A Long Day
Nice, large, undulating greens but slow. It was a Sunday but, 5.5 hours? Very tight, a lot of yelling fore!
tee boxes, fairways and greens in very nice shape
the course play nice the staff are great i try to play there as much as i can for price and location
Worst round of golf ever
Made a reservation for 12:45 and did not get to tee off until 1:30. There were back ups on every hole. On the par threes there were as many as 4 groups waiting to tee off. It took us 2 plus hours to finish the first 3 holes. We played about 7 holes and decided to pack it in. On the 3rd hole the group behind us hit up on us and there was a heated argument a near fight. I paid for a reservation and I want my money back and a rain check for another round.
one of the better public courses in NYC
There's a lot to like about this course some tricky holes ,greens were in very good condition, all in all a nice course
