Under construction
I understand they are trying to make the course better but should not have had to pay full price when i could not putt on a single green. Tees boxes were crap. Fairways were terrible. Temporary hole they set up were a joke. Decided to still play as we were told only a “few” holes were like this. EVERY SINGLE HOLE. Terrible day at this course.
Needs to be closed
Course is in terrible shape, I have some sympathy due to possibly being affected by the hurricane, but honestly they just need to close this course and work on it.
Greens are pretty much dirt, there’s some “temporary greens” for 3 of the holes that were honestly the best greens there, and the way the fairways are mowed are awful.
I overall feel ripped off and will not okay here again.
Fun layout
Fun layout. But $44 dollars for 4 temporary holes and greens like a peg board is a little too much for me. I understand the heat destroyed the greens and a lot of weeds took over but even the Tee boxes were 2 inches tall.
Worst course I have ever played
This is the worst golf course I have ever played on. Greens were mostly dirt, and a jungle of weeds. Fairways were hairier than most rough. Mounds of grass were all down the fairways. Riding the cart path felt like riding an old wooden rollercoaster, killed my back with all the giant holes and roots growing through them. There were three holes with “temporary” greens which just meant they cut a hole in the fairway and never cut the grass around it. And you can forget about the bunkers, we just picked our balls out entirely. We paid $42. No one in the pro shop warned us of any of these issues before paying. The pictures online do not depict the real conditions. I am shocked that they can get away with this.
The greens and fairways are ok cart path is absolutely horrible the 18 tee box is nothing but dirt. And had a home owner and kids come out and jump in front of us and play slow and would not lets us play there
Great value and most improved award!
The entire course is now open and they only need to roll the new green on hole 17 a few more times. The overall condition is great and the greens are smooth. Best.value , but I hope the new owners don't jack the prices.
Amazing improvement, Great value
I have played this course consistently for the past 6 months and it’s a night and day difference in the course condition. Greens and fairways are maintained and manicured constantly. Staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. New pro shop that serves alcohol. Cart paths have improved as well, and not to mentions breathtaking view of the mountains in the backdrop. Best bang for your buck in the area.
Good. Could be great
Played at Granada Farms for the first time today and really enjoyed the round. The layout is outstanding with a good mix of holes, doglegs, and elevation changes. It’s in just good enough shape. The tee boxes were nice and full in great shape. The fairways were fine. The greens were nice and thick and full but really slow. 16 was the exception. The fairway and greens on 16 were in rough shape. But it looked like they were working on it. The cart paths were awful. Most of the sand traps were unplayable and the areas outside the fairway were rough. But for the price it’s a decent value and worth playing. It could be really good if they would speed up the greens, fix the bunkers, and work on the cart paths and surrounding areas!
Much improved
Much, much improved..still a ways to go. Money is being spent on upgrades..electric carts, paved cart paths, better fairway and greens maintenance.
Outsideof fairway rough is still 10 inches because its not mowed.
Some things can still be cleaned up like the pooil that was closed a decade ago..just tear it down.
Im not a fan of the layout and routing hole to hole but i am glad to see they are improving.
Good Public Course
Fun, challenging course. Staff was super friendly. Bobby was so polite and pleasant. Greens were beautiful. You can tell there are improvements underway. Our only dislike was if you miss fairway, hard to find your ball as grass was a bit high. We played at Players Ridge few weeks ago and did not have a good experience (impolite staff, confusion booking fee time, cart stalled in fairway, etc). We’ll continue to play at Silos.
Good course needs some improvements
The course is under new ownership and they say changes are coming. Cart paths are in awful shape with tree roots and broken pavement everywhere. Bunker sand is inconsistent at best and tee boxes are uneven for foot placement. The bones of a good course are there so hope money is invested in it. Can’t beat the price.
Good things
Course is coming along great! The greens may be the best in the area! Playing again next weekend!
Great track
Finally made the hour plus drive from Rutherfordton and was pleasantly surprised. Beautiful old dairy barn / clubhouse with a ton of potential for a dining venue. Fairways were in good shape but the greens were like near perfect carpet. Much more hilly than expected which made it feel like a mountain course which I like. Lots of twists and turns and a laid back vibe. Lots of work was going on which tells me they are willing to make further improvements. Cart paths were pretty beat up on some holes but they are working on making them better I will definitely be adding this course to my rotation.
