The Silos are looking good again at last!!
Rain and better maintenance have got the course in great shape again. Still a few minor blemishes, but the best value around for a fun, yet challenging course.
Work in progress
From what I’ve been told they’re going to be re doing the greens. And there will be temp greens. But they’re doing a lot of good things to improve the course.
Over All Great with Rain
So, to get the elephant in the room, yes there was some work going on throughout the course. Water way on one is being fixed and cleaned out due to washout in the creek. There was a pile of debris on the edge of the creek, but the boxes and greens were good. Fairways got some good water and green is popping. The work is required and we were told ahead of time of two holes being worked so expect balding. The course experience was great, the paths need work of course. Only complaint, build up a better concession of choices.
Challenging layout
Fairways and roughs needed water and fertilizer. Sand traps were hard-packed, playing like a waste bunker. Greens were inconsistent, with some greens medium speed and others very slow. The slow greens appeared to be cut longer. The narrow fairways made for very challenging tee shots.
Rain makes Green
Rain overall we did the front 9 with good greens. Some construction but not as bad as anticipated. We still got the back 9 but all was good considering the drought
Needs lots of work!
Way too much ground under repair. The cart path is the worst you'll find any place. The golf carts are excellent!
Pleasantly surprised
Don't use old reviews of the course. It is improving, majority of greens were very nice and improvements on others are coming. I'm sure the golf paths will be done in the future also.
Getting better every season!
I have played this course over the last handful of years and have seen steady and constant improvement every year. The greens are now super playable and running fair. The layout is honestly one of my favorites in NC. You're always playing a different tee shot and the elevation provides a good challenge for all skill levels. Keep up the great work! Keep getting better!
This Place is a Joke
Pace of play horrible, course conditions? It looks like a mine field with all the holes dug out in the middle of the fairway. expect the staff to be rude and dismissive. Was told by a greens keeper who lost control of his cart and nearly hit mine that I had a bad attitude. Went to the office to speak to the manager. Spoke to the director who apologized and told me I would be refunded, then some arrogant individual came out with a horrible attitude and BANNED me for both courses. If that was the owner then I see we’re his employees get their bad manners from. This course is a joke
Under construction
I understand they are trying to make the course better but should not have had to pay full price when i could not putt on a single green. Tees boxes were crap. Fairways were terrible. Temporary hole they set up were a joke. Decided to still play as we were told only a “few” holes were like this. EVERY SINGLE HOLE. Terrible day at this course.
Needs to be closed
Course is in terrible shape, I have some sympathy due to possibly being affected by the hurricane, but honestly they just need to close this course and work on it.
Greens are pretty much dirt, there’s some “temporary greens” for 3 of the holes that were honestly the best greens there, and the way the fairways are mowed are awful.
I overall feel ripped off and will not okay here again.
Fun layout
Fun layout. But $44 dollars for 4 temporary holes and greens like a peg board is a little too much for me. I understand the heat destroyed the greens and a lot of weeds took over but even the Tee boxes were 2 inches tall.
Worst course I have ever played
This is the worst golf course I have ever played on. Greens were mostly dirt, and a jungle of weeds. Fairways were hairier than most rough. Mounds of grass were all down the fairways. Riding the cart path felt like riding an old wooden rollercoaster, killed my back with all the giant holes and roots growing through them. There were three holes with “temporary” greens which just meant they cut a hole in the fairway and never cut the grass around it. And you can forget about the bunkers, we just picked our balls out entirely. We paid $42. No one in the pro shop warned us of any of these issues before paying. The pictures online do not depict the real conditions. I am shocked that they can get away with this.
