Nags Head Golf Club has a traditional Scottish-links layout that is right at home on the windswept terrain of the Outer Banks. Situated along the Roanoke Sound, the rugged coastline and rolling sand dunes perfectly mimic a classic links landscape. The golf course is a shot maker's layout that will test your skills but it is still player friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. You'll need a sharp short game for sure, but you won't need much length on this rather short layout. Some form of water appears on nearly every hole, including some holes that play right along the Sound, and the undulating greens can be tough. It's a challenging-but-fun round that is worth playing for the scenery alone. Unsurprisingly, Nags Head Golf Club is one of the most popular golf courses in the OBX.

Great course, pace of play sucks, easy par 3s

Course was in great shape, staff was awesome, but pace of play was brutal. Only complaint outside of pace of play... the par 3s are a little too easy. One of our guys accidentally made a hole-in-one on 10. Might want to toughen that up a bit.

Always try to play when on the Outer Banks. Course in good condition for spring golf. Winds picked on the back nine along the sound side of the course. Still able to complete in 4 hours.

Enjoyed the challenge!

My second time playing at Nags Head during a golfing road trip! The course was in great shape. Weather was cool, but warmer than Western Maryland at this time of year. I enjoy the variety of yardage and find the links design a challenge to my strategy. Some water features require thoughtful setup for me. Love the views!

Vacation golf

Vacation golf can sometimes be expensive and disappointing.
