We really enjoyed this course! Play moved quickly on the front nine. The course was fun to play and having the GPS navigation with up to date hole information was very helpful.

My review is going to be skewed to my unique experience, but bear with me.

10/10 round.

Experience:

I signed up for an 8 AM tee time. I was shocked to find out that I’d be teeing off alone, and no one else was teeing off for another 40 minutes. This anomaly didn’t stop the pro in the shop or the starter from giving me a warm welcome, course overview and some tips before send off. I finished my 18 in about 2:45, and decided I had time for 9 more, if times were available. They turned me around and sent me out with a twosome almost immediately. I finished that 9 in under 2 hours.

Course:

For the end of October, the course was in fantastic shape. The tee boxes are holding up well. The layout was challenging but score-able. The first 5 holes really put you to work - 5,4,5,3,5. A handful of lost balls was to be expected on some holes with more densely-grown boundary bushes/trees. 17 really feels like a true signature hole, playing from a near-island tee box and requiring an iron shot that has to carry water almost the entire way to the front of the green.

The greens are pretty sandy but that’s to be expected from most well-maintained courses this late in the season, let alone one literally next to a beach. A few of the greens on the back nine had some significant dead patches, but those were outlined and the pins were (I’m sure intentionally) placed away from those areas. I saw quite a few reviews about ball marks on the greens, but I didn’t see anything of significance.

Overall:

A truly unique experience for me. I’ve never played 18 by myself before. I was also rather emotional coming into the round because my grandfather (who passed nearly 20 years ago) used to be a regular here during the summers. I would absolutely recommend setting aside a morning or afternoon to play Sea Scape during your trip to OBX.

Great condition. Interesting holes. Wind a challenge but what are you going to do.

Front and back 9’s are very different and this makes it a lot of fun and challenging. Two or three of the greens have a few bare spots but over all the course is in great shape. A fun day was had by our foursome!

We enjoyed playing this course. It was in pretty good shape. We would come back and recommend it!

Fairway’s excellent. Other golfers should be responsible on the greens fixing their ball marks

Beautiful course. Exceptional from tee to green. If I lived in NC I would play it every week.

Don’t advertise scenic views of the sound of ocean if you don’t have any.

Better than I expected. A little quirky because of numerous blind shots. , bit will play it again. The staff was great !

The front nine was pretty tore up. Greens were beat up. Crazy how the rough swallowed balls up whole.

The back 9 was awesome. Seems most only play 9 so the pace of play sped up considerably and the holes were a lot more fun to play.

For almost $400 for a pair to play here. They need to do better.

Greens were riddled with excessive amounts of unrepaired divots

This was my 17th course and 36 round of golf this year, by far the worst value.

Take care of the course for this kind of money and you won’t get negative reviews
